Picked up a copy of FFGs's World of Warcraft The Boardgame for a bit of nostalgia - and to keep mt other coffin boxes company. Probably not the greatest gameplay, especially in comparison with games from the last decade, but I really enjoyed the combat system so on the shelf it goes.

We have this and have been trying to track down expansions. I am going to riot if we don't play it at the next gaming retreat.

This 2nd edition has great art and we love national parks. I think it plays with two, and we may hit some national parks during an upcoming sabbatical. I used to create small children and raise them to be gamers, with mixed results, but now my college-aged daughter (both of them) have been playing games at school but trying to hide it from me so I won't drag them into some hellish gaming nightmare at home. My oldest daughter is marrying a budding engineer who is interning and doing something with prosthetic limbs and magnetic actuators. Anyway, they both play Catan but I can tell he is ripe for conversion to a wider range of games, and my daughter, holy crap, she is a hyper competitive shark. I am not sure I want to play any games with her, to be honest. She is going to law school, probably.
I don't like a lot of board game art, but this pushes my buttons.

I prefer the first edition art but it's a very nice game. Sort of a Tokaido+. Your Catan-acclimated family members will definitely enjoy it.

I kinda broke my cardinal rule again. The usual rule is "No buying games that don't already have a connection to the pile." In other words, I'll buy expansions or stuff by my three main designer favorites: Cole Wehrle, Eric Lang, Scott Almes. Everything else is trades. But, every once in a while, I'll come across something that just piques my interest, not least because of the price attached. Compile by GTG was one of those last fall. When SU&SD took a look at it, I thought it sounded really cool and it was $20 on Amazon, so I snagged it. I got in ahead of the scalpers who have since been descending on every reprinting and reselling for jacked-up prices. Yesterday was another price-oriented decision but also had a further connection.
I found Kevin Wilson's Escape from New York for $29. I'm not a huge Wilson fan, because a lot of his stuff is bloated, but I'm a diehard fan of the film. It's a B-movie that never aspired to be anything more but still has that John Carpenter touch from when he could, y'know, actually tell a story. It's also a neo-cyberpunk perspective that's also just this side of post-apocalyptic; two genres which will always have a draw for me. So, when I found out that Wilson was making a game based on it last year, I was interested, but not at the price that the Kickstarter was presenting. I'll just watch my Blu-Ray of the movie again, thanks. But then I saw it for less than $30 on Wednesday and, after reading Dan Thurot's enthusiastic review that talked about how fun it was, even if it was, like usual, overstuffed with mechanisms and stuff to do on each turn that didn't really matter, I figured I'd spring for it. It showed up yesterday and I read the rules last night and, yeah, it's typical Wilson and I don't have quite as much of a shine to it as Dan does after just reading the rules, but I'll get it on the table at least once and see if it's everything he says it is. His main line was: "It's pure Ameritrash.", which is what the film is and what this place used to be, so...

Y'all want to hear some straight up BS?
I got a copy of Cyclades, in shrink, for Christmas. My buddies come over and we break it out....and it's missing a token sheet. Like, not in the box.
WTF?
So, my buddy won when he placed his second White Cheerleader meeple

Picked up a few games in the last month:
Mansions of Madness 1st Ed - Had this five years ago but got rid of it to try the 2nd Ed app-driven one, didn't really enjoy it that much (a bit too much of the game taken out by the app, similar to my feeling I'm getting playing LotR: Journeys in Middle Earth) so picked up this with one of the hard to find large expansions for or good price. I don't mind setting it up and being the Keeper so hopefully it stays longer this time.
Star Trek: Expeditions - Always wanted to try this even though the needed scenario expansions never arrived, all reports says it still plays well so no problem grabbing it at a low price (my Trek games are building up, that's four of them now
)
Batman: Gotham City Chronicles - Always liked the look of this but since I had a large Conan KS arriving this month (yesterday) it wasn't really on my radar ... until an KS All-in bundle showed up on eBay with no one bidding on it, so grabbed it for around $150. Yes I have Conan but this has the Versus mode with an extra dashboard so you can play 1v1 big skirmishes, so that will do well for playing against one of my mates.
D&D: Trials of Tempus - An online wholesaler must have picked up an unwanted order of these as he has been selling multiple new copies (standard, not premium) at firesale prices. Picked it up for $30 and looks like a fun, lighter D&D themed team skirmish game I can get out with people at our club.
But I am keeping my feet on the ground, I have a large stack of games to be sold off that no longer has my desire to play them.

@Southernman, I love Expeditions, at some point it would be cool to do a Facebook chat game together or something

For some reason I missed NEMESIS when it came out; I think I was turning my nose up at over the top Kickstarters with a million minis etc. Finally played it and it was good enough to convince me to go all in on the game and its sequels. I'm actually considering painting minis for the first time in my life, but I'll probably just pay someone to do it.
