What games are you BUYING? ARCHIVE

Went to what I thought was my FLGS to pick up an expansion for Warhammer: Invasion. They said they were out of stock, but they could special order something for me. I said I was interested in the Skavenblight Threat. She said it wasn't out yet. Confused, I replied that it was the first expansion for the game. She immediately got an attitude and said that because it wasn't available from FFG that it wasn't out on the market yet. I tried to calmly tell her that it has been out since December, but she said that internet sites lie and I shouldn't believe them until I have the box in my hands. This was last Sunday, and by Wednesday I had all three available expansions in my hands that I ordered for dirt cheap from Funagain games. You would think that in a gaming wasteland like Boise fucking Idaho that the employees of a games store would be a little more polite, and if not that, maybe a little more informed. Last time I go to that FLGS.

Edit: I'm all for supporting brick and mortar institutions, and after 8 years in customer service I give a lot of leeway to people working in the front lines. On the other hand I got the impression that just because I was groomed and wasn't wearing a metal or anime t-shirt that I just wasn't the target demographic for the store and didn't know what the fuck I was talking about. And when I made the slightest assertion that I did know a little bit about the subject the clerk went from zero to pissed off and either outright lied to me or spoke from a position of ignorance.

Sorry to go off on a rant, I'm sure that most everyone here has had a similar experience. I think I'm just getting older and just expect people to have a little bit of fucking respect for me when I go to spend money in their goddamn establishment.

God damn beuks, I have had exactly the same problem. My FLGS just *will not* order these expansions for me. It is a fucking nuisance. I have waited months now. I'm just waiting for a decent sized order to be worth the S+H to buy the lot of them from an online store.

I paid like $33 bucks (S+H included) to get all three expansions from Funagain. Good value too if you ask me. Warhammer: Invasion has been the game most played by my wife and myself lately. We don't get out of the house much and the game is just so quick and satisfying.

This line is hilarious, coming from a desperate FLGS. Extra points for lying to you in the same breath.

My FLGS is passable, but if they don't have it on their shelves, I'm not even going to ask.

I'd be tempted to take the box in, wave it under her snooty nose, tell her I bought all three expansions from Funagain, and that they'll be getting my business in future.

Believe me, the thought has crossed my mind. I just wonder if she would get it, or if it would just be a sort of petty waste of my time.

If it gets them to be more customer friendly, then maybe it's worth it, if you still want to patronise them. Admittedly the odds are against it. But I occasionally think it's worth doing something like that, if only as a matter of principle and to maybe make a companies attitude better for future customers.

Yeah, my girlfriend and I play it a lot too so it gets a good amount of play. Thus it would be worth buying the expansions.

The funny thing is that he got me the first one. He has just been unable to get any of the other ones since. Whatever.

This is why business go out of business. Listen to your customers. Give them what they want at a reasonable price. It's really not that difficult.

gave in and pre-ordered Kingdom of Heaven. Well over its 500 orders mark, hope it starts printing soon.

Received an email from GMT that Washington's War should arrive at my house on March 10th.

I just placed my order for WWr from www.coolstuffinc . It looks really fantastic. I don't think I'll get my copy for some time, but at least its ordered. I didn't want to miss out on what appears to be a brilliant game.

I just ordered CrackedLCDS top 10 must have games, because internet gamer cred is so important to me.

Did you ever get Pocket Battles?

I did, but I've not had a chance to play it yet. Maybe I'll go thumb through it now so I can get ready for a game with the wife.
