What IOS games have you been playing?

Looks like shit when you play it on the big screen. But you can play the small version on the iPad and it's okay.

I like the game and it was quite easy to play even though I too haven't played the board game. But for some reason there's just not much story to it, and I kinda feel the game goes on for too long. Not as such because of the gameplay, but mostly because of the rather long wait between turns.

Yeah, don't magnify. The "2X looks great!" thing is the biggest myth in iOS gaming. It usually looks like complete ass.

Either spring for the HD version or else just play it on the iPad at the smaller size.

Agree completely. At best, 2x looks okay, and that's only when you're dealing with low-res graphics to start with. Otherwise you'll think it's 1992 again.

It's an unholy combination of Tetris, Dr. Mario or Bejeweled, and Boggle.

When I'm playing this, it's impossible to even communicate with other people, all I can say "ummm" or "wait..."

I wouldn't recommend it on the iPhone, the screen is a bit too small for the madness.

Picked up some fun little timewasters this week:

Diggin' Dogs - like Where's My Water, but with tilt controls and a little fast action thrown in.
Tank Hero - reminds me of the tank game from Combat for the 2600
Ziggurat - king-of-the-hill retro shooter: sorta 'sabotage' for the Apple II, but the enemies are coming from the sides. Great chiptunes soundtrack.
Uniwar HD - reminds me of Advance Wars. Need to invest some time in it so I can play the multiplayer.

Picked up Gridrunner, the latest game by Jeff Minter - the guy who makes all those Minotaur and goat games - and it is AMAZING. Apparently it was an old C64 game. What it is now is a super fun retro top down shooter, simple controls, great sound effects, blah blah blah...it's universal and only 99 cents. Just go get it and thank me later.

Fairway Solitaire: Just enough decision making to be something of an actual challenge, as opposed to usual patience solitaire, but it can still be random luck as far as how well you'll do. Very well produced, though, and highly addictive. I've played this entirely too much the past week.

Get a lot of black cards? That's one of the tougher ones ... not counting that 20,000 games things, which is just stupid.

Great game, though, huh? I'm thinking of starting a TtR Pocket thread here, just like our Ascensions thread. I'm already playing Jeb, of course, but I want to know who else might be interested.

Same here. What a fun little package ... just enough challenges, trophies, stars, and on and on. Big Fish knows what it's doing.

Never played TtR either on iOS or irl, is it pretty easy to learn?

EZPZ, lemon-squeezy.

Not only is the game itself pretty easy to learn, but DoW did a fantastic job with porting it to iOS. Everything is first-rate.

For you, Chris, it will be CAKE. The tutorial is great and the game has a nice little amount of depth to it (not much). I hate the game irl but for some reason this pocket version really rubs me in the right places (like you when you rub me in the right places)

yeah the 20k games played is a dumb cheevo. This win a game winning all black routes is really cool cuz it sort of breaks the game a bit. I can't decide if it will be easier against 1 opponent (where you're more likely to get all black routes) or against opponents (where your low final score is more likely to win the game). hmmmm... you need to be REALLY lucky with your initial tickets. I have to stop keeping all 3

Cool, I might pick it up in the next week or so if I have free time.
