Also, NH Puzzle was released earlier this week. It's a series of 100 scenarios that need to be solved in just one turn. The player must finish the turn with more HPs than every other opponent, or else it's back to the drawing board. Some have been pretty easy, some have been pretty nasty, and some have been really, really clever and forced me to think about NH in a whole new way (I'm at #37 or thereabouts). Very cool and highly recommended.
NH is a fantastic iOS game. It's easily my most-played game on the iPad.I finally got to borrow an ipod touch, and got to play the demo version of Neuroshima Hex!. It's great, and if I ever manage to afford an ipad2 I'll get it immediately.

Is there a website that helps you find iPhone games in specific categories, not general categories like 'action'?
Examples of games I want in specific categories:
breakout games like JET BALL
marble shooter games like SPARKLE
physics-based puzzle games like COLLIDER!
water-based racing games like AQUA MOTO RACING

Tikal
for iOS has been released. Works really well, and reminds me of why I used to love this game. Also reminds me that it could be better with some combat or other thematic AT elements. But as Euros go, this is definitely one of the classics, and you don't have to deal with AP prone players with the app.

I've been having fun today with
Song Summoner
. It's a turn-based tactical JRPG (FF Tactics or Rebirth of Fortune style) in which you generate characters from the songs in your library. (I'm pretty sure it generates the character from the title of the song, not its musical qualities.) There's a reasonable amount of variety in terms of characters, abilities, and skills, and it has a slightly-more-ridiculous-than-usual story.

Yeah, Tikal is good. But guess what else also showed up? Joan of Arc/Montjoie. It's $5.99 so it's expensive, but it looks to be a 1:1 port of the PC game I reviewed a while back. So that means it's really good, if you want a turn based/tabletop style game. Haven't really had a chance to look at the features yet, but it looks like they're all there including the historical and free setups.
I just got an iPhone 4, so finally I can play stuff like Infinity Blade (which is freaking great, BTW- perfect mix of casual and hardcore elements).
I did get Sword & Sworcery, so far I don't get it. Great style, phenomenal music...still looking for the game though.
EA has a bunch of stuff on sale so I got Dead Space and NFS: Hot Pursuit for .99 a piece.

Wow, that Joan of Arc game looks fantastic. I'm gonna put it on my watch list for now and hope the price comes down, but eventually I'll probably just grab it for $5.99, which still isn't bad at all compared to what the PC version would cost.

Man, it looks like fewer and fewer games have 1st gen iPod touch support.

Grab this one quick, while it's temporarily free! I LOVE this game! It's better than Angry Birds, imho.

I've been playing the hell out of Jetpack Joyride. Well worth the 99 cents. I'm also taking a crack at making my own iOS game. We'll see how that goes.... it's not exactly intuitive.

Crimson: Steam Pirates is fantastic. And the first "chapter" is free, so there's no risk at all.

I have been playing the hell out of ASCENSION: CHRONICLE OF JEEZ THIS NAME GOES ON FOREVER. ItsTheDukester is a very forgiving man for tolerating my incredibly baroque playing styles. We started a game two nights ago and did a couple of turns. Then last night I see it's still active and take a turn--we're talking 1:45 AM PDT here. He completes his move about 10 seconds later! We go back and forth--I think I am winning, but he fucking stole my Hedron Whatsihoosie, so we'll see. Then my daughter comes in the room and needs water and I am trying to throw a move here or there to finish the game but just can't before he's logged out. Sorry! We'll finish soon. Unless my wife has her baby. Then we will have to wait longer.
Hey jhuntin! Get your ass in there.

I played the hell out of Mega Mall for a little while. It was great fun but way too easy, now I'm playing that Jetpack Joyride. It's fun too but I don't think I really love this style of game, which is basically just move to the right as long as you can.
Best AP ever.... Biophilia... if you like Bjork that is.
We all know the album/CD/Tape whatever, is dead. People don't buy them. So what's an artist to do? Well Bjork has an answer. A free ap that is ok at first. You can cruise through a tiny galaxy, sort of scrolling around looking at things and some of the things you see you can click on and it brings up another menu... usually it will say "available soon". Each one of these is a song you can buy for 2$ that has animation, samples to play with etc... It's a genius way to release a new album and actually except people to pay for it. A great little program and leave it to Bjork to be this forward thinking. The basic one still has some music and samples to play with so if you just get the free one you can still play with it a little bit. But the songs cost money and 2$ is a bit much for many people. I'm paying just to see what she's doing, and becuase I think she is the best solo female artist of my generation. Such a great voice.
I immediately contemplated hiring someone to do one for our band it's such a good idea. The only problem is that it's only for people with iPhones, or smart phones of some kind. I've considered writing a blog about this ap and it's possible implications but for now I'll just write about it here and see if anyone else finds this as fascinating as I do.
