Nintendo released Super Mario Bros 35 for free if youre subscribed to their online service. It's a Mario battle royale. You run through original SMB levels, and every time you kill an enemy you send it into someone else's level and get some time added to your time. Last one standing wins. It's super fun.

I'll probably end up getting it. I have a Thrustmaster controller that's gathering dust, and I have a weak spot for space sims.

i think im in on Squadrons, but also Rebel Galaxy Outlaw released last week on the ps4 and thats tempting me also. I definitely dont need 2 space sims simultaneously. Anyone played Outlaw and want to weigh in?

I finished The Witcher 3. Fantastic game. Because I did the Hearts of Stone expansion before finishing the main game, I was over-leveled for the endgame, so I turned on enemy scaling for the Eredin fight. Still wasn't a problem, but not a cakewalk either. I can't imagine playing this game on the lower difficulty, it would be way too easy. While I was fine with the difficulty, it might have even been too easy on the "Blood and Broken Bones!" level. I don't think I ever used a combat decoction, and rarely other potions.

I still need to do the Blood and Wine expansion, but I'm going to take a little break first.

I am now looking forward to Cyberpunk 2077, but I waited too long to play The Witcher and now it's coming too soon for another game of that length. Woe is me.
I'm curious how I'll feel about the first person perspective. I really like third person combat, and not so much first person combat. I'm sure I'll adjust.

In many ways, it's even better to give it a breather before you do Blood and Wine. It's a genuinely sweet sort of long fan service.

I have spent 6 hours in the pilots seat and I can tell you that Star Wars: Squadrons is a very good game. I have done the couple prologue missions and went to the fleet battle tutorial. That apparently has a bug which can prevent you from finishing if you go off script to kill the star destroyer. I spent too much time on it before looking up online what the hell I was doing wrong.

I did a few 5v5 dogfights with randos. Despite the balancing that has been done to the craft, I still feel that the rebels have the upper hand by a slight margin. Perhaps that will change as I learn to properly fly the TIE fighter. I'm still too ham-handed on the stick.

The VR on the PS4 is better than anticipated. The explosions pop, the engines whine appropriately and there is the braaap of the lasers. Fighting is frantic and it is easy to get tunnel vision, especially in the TIE where all you have is the bay window.

The cockpits are well detailed and the one detail that I truly appreciated was the frosted lenses of some lights in the Y-Wing. I remember it from the movie and it is recreated faithfully here.

Get this game.

I'm pretty sure they have said that Cyberpunk is a smaller game than Witcher 3. And then there's the very real possibility that the game doesn't actually come out in November. I think I might be more surprised if it DOES.

Spelunky 2 update: my current best is area 2-2. Progress is slow but sure.

They patched Necromunda, so I can actually continue the story campaign.

I grabbed Squadrons and am eager to play. However, thanks to Covid and Microsoft Flight Sim you can't find a joystick or affordable HOTAS setup anywhere. I was off yesterday and spent two hours scouring the depths of fringe online shops hoping to get lucky. Ebay is way too inflated.

I did get a bit lucky in the end finding a Logitech extreme 3D pro on ShopGoodwill. Hoping it's in good condition and doesn't take a month to arrive.

I can give you a good deal on 15 year old CH Fighterstick and CH Pro-Throttle.

They've been sitting in a box for the past decade.

So Doom Eternal is on game pass. Worth playing? I'm so miffed they pulled RDR2 so quickly, these longish games need to be up for a year or more for me to have a shot at finishing them.

I kind of really hated Doom Eternal, after Doom 2016 was one of my favorite games in recent memory. But plenty of people loved it, so ymmv. It's worth trying for free certainly.

I loved, and completed, Doom 2016. Doom Eternal, I played a bit, enjoyed it, played some more... then it got so fucking hard it was just a brutal grind. I haven't been back to it.

The pre-order bonus, Doom 64... I have had way more fun playing it. Some of its levels get a bit too "puzzle-y" for Doom.
