This seems like a big missed opportunity to say that something is 420 or at least 69 years ahead of its time.

It’s true- Dedicated is not as good as E-Mo-Tion or even the B-sides from it...but really, what could be because that is a near perfect record and some of the best pure pop out there. The problem I have with it is that the bangers and “Warm Blood”/“Cut to the Feeling/“Black Heart” tier tracks were singles so the remainder feels weaker- especially after “Too Much”, one of the best songs she’s ever done. The more downtempo, album track stuff just can’t compete with any of those five singles because they were all awesome- especially “Julien”, which has gone from “huh” to “one of the best tracks on the album. I do really like the song with Jack Antonoff, which sounds like a cross between Bleachers and Prince with CRJ singing sexier-than-usual vocals over it. Overall it’s still an extremely good and even great modern pop album that’s really more indie synthpop than the calculated, prefab Taylor Swift junk that some might wrongly lump CRJ in with.

Have you heard Yugen Blakrok? I'm pretty selective about modern music, too, but I think she's really good.

I've also been listening to the new Hatchie and Mannequin Pussy albums a lot to slightly change gears.

I just started listening to Zeal & Ardor. Traditional black spirituals and gospel mixed with...black metal. It’s quite interesting.
Also Deafheaven’s “Black Brick” over and over...by far their most all out metal track, and one of the best black metal songs I’ve ever heard.

This puts a smile on my face. I grew up listening to this stuff. I'm one of the few people on the planet that think Caress of Steel is Rush's best album.
