I also don't think the emotional beats landed as well as they should have. No spoilers, but the one character who we thought died, but then didn't, but then did, but then didn't, but then ended up in a coma ... how the fuck am I supposed to feel after all of that?!? It was so muddled and confusing.
Yeah this i don't care about hangovers to next season or resolution but really, come on, this was half arsed - if you want to have me really believe stuff is on the line there needs to be some clear follow through to resonate. This felt like Xander losing an eye. And then maybe not.
ST for me wasn't so much a "oh that's me" tv show (Which I get) but an homage to the movies/pop culture of that time. When it leans in on that its at its best i think.

This. This was hot garbage. WTF? How did it happen? What were the repercussions? Why did the thing happen if the character didn't stay dead? That's the worst writing in the series. Just pointless.

Now I kinda want season 5 to start with an opening text scrawl: "Somehow Vecna has returned!"
I don't watch Stranger Things to validate my hobbies. I've honestly never even heard of such a thing. Do people really do that??
I watch it because it's well-crafted sci-fi/horror, and there isn't nearly enough of that on TV. It's also funny and extremely heartfelt. And yeah, sure, the nostalgia pandering doesn't hurt. I am an occasional sucker for that sort of thing, I freely admit. I'm just the right age, so that stuff hits me.
One thing that makes me laugh and shake my head though -- clearly the show's creators have a deep and abiding love for Stephen King, and hey, me too. But the showrunners seem to love their characters so much, they don't have the guts to actually kill anyone off!! King on the other hand?? Come on. If SK had written this show, you know he would have killed half the cast by now, and cackled gleefully while doing it. King is a right bastard. He also understands the concept of "stakes." Something this show might want to look into for its final season.

Speaking of which we are watching Boba Fett finally, and what in holy hell. The main storyline is plodding as hell, sure, but then to put 2 episodes that have nothing to do with the rest of the show just smack bang in the middle? Seemingly because the first part was running out of steam? Holy hell. In what universe is that a good idea? I had heard that "the episodes with the Mando in it are better", but, well, they weren't episodes of Boba Fett, they were episodes of another show, and, they were pretty bloody plodding as well. What actually happened here?

What you said, all of it. I'm good with all of that. This is like fantasy booking a wrestling company.

Boba Fett was such a relentlessly dumb show. The core premise was flawed right from the start. A strictly PG-13 rated show about the head of a criminal empire? What actual CRIMES was Fett even in charge of?!? The show told us absolutely nothing! And don't get me started on the Vespa-riding space biker gang.
I've been really frustrated with Ms Marvel as well. The first two episodes had so much charm and humor and visual flair. They were great. But as the season has gone on, the show has moved away from "family comedy" into "superhero" stuff, and it feels like it's just going through the motions. The actions scenes are rote and dull. The impression I get is that the creators just don't care about the superhero content, but Disney gave them a checklist of superhero story elements they HAD to cram in there. They feel like contractual obligations. I also think the show made a big mistake in leaving New Jersey for half the season. They did such a good job of introducing Kamala's friends, school, family, and mosque ... then they left them all behind two episodes later. Weird choice.
Disney+ definitely has not cracked the code on how to create compelling TV content. They got super lucky out of the gates with Wandavision and Mandalorian. Everything since has just been mediocre-to-bad with a few rare bright spots (I liked Hawkeye quite a bit).

The Vespa teen gang can follow Jar Jar down into the nearest Sarlac pit for all I care.
