@jason10mm: I think you're right - the showrunners thought we needed some cool Episode 9 GoT-esque action, and that was it.

Last night, I woke up abruptly in the small hours, from a fragment of a dream of living in Gotham City. This is not surprising, because in the course of the last 14 months, I watched all the many episodes of Batman: the Animated Series, all seasons of The Brave & the Bold (Batman team-up cartoon), the terrible but Gotham-based season 3 of Titans, and now I am watching Gotham season 1. The first three shows are all more or less normal superhero shows, but Gotham is a non-superhero prequel to some version of Batman, so it is almost entirely focused on very human cops, criminals, and civilians.

So 3-4 eps in The Midnight Club kinda fizzled for us, the haunting wrapper for other stories just didn't cut it.

But 2 eps in on The Peripheral and holy shit Amazon is knocking it out of the park. F rings of power, this William Gibson adaptation with Chloe Moretz is awesome. Well shot, cool plot, and strong cast. Hope they can keep the momentum on this VR/heist/quantum time travel/hill Billy NC represent family drama show. Not read Gibson in some time but might have to get him back on the menu.

HA HA FUCK ALL Y'ALL I BEEN WATCHING GREEN ACRES

So I have this elliptical so I can get some exercise. I just started so right now I'm only trying to do 15 minutes a day, but I'll up that pretty soon. And it faces my TV! I can watch and walk!

I started watching Project UFO, an old show from the late 70s that no one else remembers that I found badly captured episodes of. It is INCREDIBLY BORING and walking was not getting done.

But I was checking out Tubi for other reasons (I have no cable or streaming services and am not looking to get any) and discovered they have Green Acres on tap. It's a goofy sitcom from the 60s, but it is legit funny. The humor is absurdist, the characters are great, the theme song, as the kids say, slaps. My dad, the opera-loving PhD in biochemistry LOVED this show and watched it regularly so I saw a fair amount of it when I was younger. Anyway, my walking time now flies! Tubi is free and has ads but that's fine. I get my 15 mins done with half an episode and I have the next half waiting for me for tomorrow's walk.

So yeah, Green Acres, my good bitches. It's the place to be.

Station Eleven is what I’m into now. Hard to pay attention to the sets I’m doing when I’m literally enthralled by this.

Post apocalyptic stuff always captures my attention. I think it’s because I always used to read from back to front so I started with Revelations back when I was six or seven maybe.

My only real memory of green acres was watching it on a little B&W TV (back when the 'extra' TV in a house was often a little portable B&W set) and seeing the subtitle "For those of you with a black and white TV, the stove just turned green" and marveling that yeah, when this show was on air, color TV was an extreme novelty/luxury.

Makes me appreciate Werewolf by Night which wasn't really scary or even particularly good, but the B&W and little cigarette burns in the upper right corner was all sorts of nostalgia.

Oh man, I loved that show when I was a kid. I was totally into everything UFO related. Sad to hear that it's actually boring. But, glad to hear you've embraced Green Acres. When you reach an hour of exercise time, I assume you're going to tack on Petticoat Junction for the complete package?

UNDONE is really compelling, rotoscoped weird time travel family drama.

Both seasons of Undone are fantastic.

The lead actress is also great in a weird horror-ish show called Brand New Cherry Flavor on Netflix.

PUFO was produce by Jack "Dragnet" Webb, and it shows. It's very much in the style of a 1970s police procedural. Every scene starts long before it should and ends long after, and in the middle there's often a lot of trivial stuff. "We're going to Oregon" "How are we getting there?" "We're going to fly into Portland and then rent a car to take us to Bluptown" "I'll get the tickets ready. Which one of you wants the aisle?" It's just agonizing. It's not even character building because none of them have characters it doesn't take 20 seconds to describe. (Occasionally there's plot outside the UFO sighting that's interesting, but usually it's all very flat and rote.)

The UFO stuff is often cool but there's never a satisfying resolution. No matter what the witness describes, the best you're leaving with is "huh! beats me!" like the show was terrified it would imply that the USAF confirmed flying saucers. Maybe there was some kind of deal with them that involved exactly that.

HOWEVER, the last episode I watched had Dr. Joyce Brothers AND Robby the Robot in it, so who can say, really?

Yeah, Brand New Cherry Flavor is great and creepy. I actually discovered Undone because I remembered the BNCF was a thing, and wondered what the actress was up to since then.

Watching and enjoying The Peripheral. I haven't read the book but it feels a lot more Westworld than William Gibson. My wife loves the statue-scrapers (or whatever they're called.)

I enjoyed the ending of House of the Dragon, with the exception of yet another goddamn childbirth sequence.

I think they set it up for a wild season 2.

when sorting through all the cardboard in the garage yesterday I came across an Amazon box advertising their Wheel of Time series, so if you're wondering where all the discourse about that show is, it's completely limited to a cardboard box in my garage.

Dammit, The Peripheral is ANOTHER weekly drop. This sucks, it's FAR too slow a show for that IMHO. Need it in my veins NOW! Hope they don't do this for S2 of Reacher or Terminal List, or S3 of Jack Ryan. Where is that Willow show already!?!?! Hope the Wednesday Addams show is at least fun.

Liked the finale of House of the Dragon though I am not fond of the actress playing older Rhaenyra as her range seems to stretch from mad to greatly upset to constipated. At least it is better than the lady playing Rhaenys, who is either smugly amused or amusedly smug. A lot more fun over with Team Green IMHO, especially Aemond who is JUST DAMNED AWESOME. We need a "we are both stranded on a deserted isle surrounded by cannibals" ep with him and Daemon, I don't care how off script it would be :P More perspective shots of dragons please, wooooooooow.
