Episode 1 of The Peripheral on Amazon Prime was thrilling, and I can't wait to see the next one.

HBO cancelled Westworld, so there won't be a fifth and final season. I am relieved. I wasn't planning on watching anymore, but it bothered me to endure four seasons without ever knowing if the mystery box would be empty or full of shit.

I am enjoying it, but got this sinking feeling part way into todays episode that it would be filler+cliffhanger.

I’ve started rereading the book and it is so weird and Gibsonian.

“Not a city, the curators had insisted, but an incremental sculpture. More properly a ritual object. Grayly translucent, slightly yellowed, its substance recovered as suspended particulates from the upper water column of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. With an estimated weight of three million tons and growing, it was perfectly buoyant, kept afloat by segmented bladders, each one the size of a major airport of the previous century.”

Excerpt From
The Peripheral
William Gibson

Haha. Try translating that to another medium, fools.
I really liked the first 3 episodes, but it's slowly losing its grip. I'm in for now, but if the visuals keep skewing into Marvel territory (pointless 'omg awesome' CGI), I'll be hunting down 'Maid Marian and her Merry Men'.

Glad I skipped the fourth season. My only regret now is not skipping seasons two and three as well.

Hang on, there is a new Robin Hood show? Or is that the modern take with the girl in the hip-hop band?

No, it is a childrens show from the 70s (BBC) I didn't know about until yesterday.

Did you see that Prince of thieves tweet also? Lol.

It wasn't 70s though? Early 90s I think (maybe 80s). Unless there was another one. I remember watching it back around then and enjoying it but tbh I'm not sure it was the kind of kids show to hold up terrifically well.

I watched all 4 episodes of The Inside Man on Netflix. It is astonishing to me that this was created by the creator of the brilliant BBC Sherlock show.

Inside Man is Dumb with a capital D. Artificially dramatic, music that is regrettable, and characters who behave in the dumbest of ways. The premise itself is even stupid. A death row convict (Stanley Tucci) is consulted by people to take on "cases", investigating this or that, from inside his cell. Meanwhile, a vicar in England (David Tennant) gets in hot water because a parishioner gives him a porn-filled flash drive. Every decision the vicar makes in this show is beyond ridiculous.

Don't waste your time, even if you are a hardcore Tennant or Tucci fan.

Still watching Gotham, now partway into season two. By coincidence, the episode that I watched last night took place on election day in Gotham. The show remains entertaining and even compelling. Ben McKenzie (playing Jim Gordon) is very effective within his somewhat limited range, and he is able to transcend that range in his scenes with Morena Baccarin, who is one of the better actors on the show and eventually McKenzie's wife in real life. Donal Logue (playing Harvey Bullock) continues to steal scenes, but less often as the writers give more screen time to the villains. Fortunately, the actors playing Penguin and Riddler are great. John Doman (playing gangster Carmine Falcone, but better known as Bill Rawls to fans of The Wire) is also great. Jada Pinkett Smith initially surprised me with a solid performance as gangster Fish Mooney, but eventually I grew weary of her pretentious line reading. The quantity of scenes with young Bruce Wayne and his butler Alfred Pennysworth are just about right... enough to show the gradual development of the future Batman without getting in the way of the main storylines.

It's on Youtube :

It's also bad. I can't bring myself to finish the first episode, so maybe it gets better, but don't blame me if it doesn't. Starting with a lame novelty rap by a fake Rasta with a fake Cockney accent is powerful gatekeeping. I can't get past it.

I've now watched all 4 available episodes of The Periperal, and while I enjoy the show... I have no idea what the fuck is going on. I keep feeling like I missed some vital plot point, but I don't think I did. I think it's just a bit needlessly arcane.
