What TV SHOWS are you watching?

Warning: Spoiler!I wish they had spent more time with the Firefly docs on exactly what they thought had happened with Elli, why a fatal brain exploration (as opposed to a lumbar puncture, limited biopsy that MIGHT cause her death, etc) was necessary, and just how successful they think this would be in eliminating the fungus threat. Then we would have a better idea of the true stakes and just how much Joel destroyed with his rampage. I also question the judgment of a lady who must know this guy is a raging psychopath to tell him all this, then have him escorted to.......a jail cell? with two incompetents in charge and never lock any doors. I think this whole bit was pretty accurate to the game (never played it) but as a show it left me scratching my head.
And spoilers in the reply:
Exactly. Joel woke up after being unconscious for how long? An hour? Whatever it was, it was too short, dramatically. The Fireflies in SLC know absolutely nothing about how Elli has no cordyceps symptoms. So Dr, Mengele, who knows nothing that he hasn't discovered in an hour with Elli, decides he needs to remove her brain. Believing that is a big ask.
The asshole minions are just trying to make you feel a little better about Joel shooting them (and everyone else in the building) in the face.
In my vast scriptwriting experience (zero), they could have taken 10 minutes of Elli chatting with Joel, looking at giraffes (we'll not think too hard about how giraffes survive an SLC winter) and talking about how the researchers are making progress. Then Joel overhears someone talking about how it's a darn shame that they're going to have to remove that poor girl's brain today. You pick up at the conversation with Marlene, and the rest plays just like before. Only now the tragedy is cranked up a notch because you've seen that these aren't horrible, stupid people.

That said, they ARE horrible stupid people. Look at that hospital. Everything is decayed and breaking down. They don't have the time or patience to maybe take a graft. They certainly don't have the tools, skills, or people necessary to examine it. There haven't been a lot of "scientists" around on the show. So instead they just want to extract it and keep it in a jar and hope that they can grow some more. Stupid, desperate, and short-sighted, pretty much like most of the humans on the show.

Warning: Spoiler!Disagree. The Fireflies knew she was immune from episode 1. That was the whole reason they hired Joel to transport her. Who knows how long his female contact (Marlene?) had been at that hospital (maybe with blood samples) waiting for them to show up?

Time limit: I'd say a week.
They knew she was immune, but I'm not sure that they would know what caused it.

While I am burned out on cinematic universes, I can pop in and out of Star Wars when I want to and the different shows or movies give me different kinds of stories and perspectives, which I think help keep it more interesting to me than just another superhero story or another Star Trek pre-/se-quel that doesn’t really bring anything new.

I just started the second season of Pennyworth, but have to admit to having developed a kind of hate-watching attitude to it.
So much is done right to my tastes: the overacting by good to great actors, the comic book personalities, everyone with a human touch
I don't even mind the bursts of violence. The fight scenes and Sykes (Paloma Faith) are a lot fun to watch, but there is just so much torture. It feels like every second or third episode has someone hanging from hooks, having a body part cut off, usually screaming. And this shit is just disgusting, I mean of course a main villain keeps on chewing scenery

For some reason my spousal unit has been binging NEW AMSTERDAM. This is every bad cliche of medical drama. Everyone cares! Everyone sacrifices for the greater good! Everyone thumbs their noses at medical bureaucracy! In case you are wondering how to feel, someone will play soft piano music at appropriate points.
Is there a GOOD cliche medical drama ? This a TV genre I've never understood the demand for, yet it has persisted for decades.

I enjoyed House, but mostly for the sarcasm. I once went on a date with a woman from South Korea, and she shared an interesting bit of trivia: the only soap operas in South Korea are all medical dramas, because it is socially unacceptable to air shows there about infidelity.

So much is done right to my tastes: the overacting by good to great actors, the comic book personalities, everyone with a human touch, the 'history' of Britains' descent into a fascist utopia, the fact that there is a Zeppelin in about each shot of London and the hints to a world of dark magic beneath it all.Warning: Spoiler!the QUEEN

I tried Pennyworth on a whim last summer and got utterly hooked on the first season. I watched the first episode of the second season and then decided that I needed to watch all of Gotham first, to see if this alternate history was mentioned at all in Gotham. (It was not.) It took me maybe six months to watch all 4.5 seasons of Gotham and now I am back to Pennyworth. I think Pennyworth is the better show, if only because there is a lot more creativity served up. Gotham felt obligated to introduce every major Batman villain, starting with their origin, as well as show how young Master Bruce evolved into Batman. Pennyworth is only responsible for keeping Pennyworth alive and showing us why he left England and became a butler. So the writers have a lot of freedom and are running with it.

I hate this about these shows too.
