I really think it'll benefit from a big screen viewing. Everything is huge. The buildings are huge. The ships are huge. The worms are obviously huge.

Sadly, it also happens here.

I agree it's dumb. Hollywood firefights can be dumb as well, but, at least, characters don't stand still, there's a semblance of logic and cover.

Another Star Wars space fight gripe - the end of The Last Jedi, where Laura Dern kamikaze's into a Star Destroyer. Bam, no more Star Destroyer. Wait, what? Big missile going fast actually works?

Anyway, I want to see Dune, but I don't want to catch covid. Folks here in Ohio are dumb enough to skip vaccinations, and the numbers are still high.

The in-world explanation for Dune is the body shields. Projectile weapons don't work against them and laser weaponry have nuclearly violent interactions. I get your point though, and explaining it away doesn't necessarily affect your argument.

Not to mention the fact that the activation of a body shield out in the wild is essentially dousing yourself in steak sauce and jumping into a tiger pit. The generators enrage the worms.

I wonder if the mass waves on frontal assaults is due to AI based CGI. The earlier iterations like MASSIVE ( used in the LotR movies ) pioneered CGI army level combat sequences.
