I would be perfectly happy with a 90-minute version of the intro to any Dawn of War game.

I think the Space Marine element if 40k eliminates most interesting storyline possibilities, but I'm not too proud to watch it.

They should make an Imperial Guard film that just straight up copies Paths or Glory.

I would be totally into a TV series version of Abnett's Gaunt's Ghosts.

I have a strong fear they won’t do enough to acknowledge the theo-fascist over/under/only tones of the Astartes and the audience has a new poster boy. The 12yo me is “awesome!”

I'm cautiously excited. I think Cavill is savvy enough to know his limits so I doubt there will be full on space marine action cause no one has that kinda budget nowadays. Amazon is probably the best service for this kinda stuff.

this thread reminded me that they announced Space Marine 2 last week, and thats pretty cool. Space Marine was awesome.



re a tv show... man who knows. i feel like theyre never going to have the budget to do what people want them to do with it. i'll watch some but my expectations are low.

I am cautiously optimistic. They made a 40K movie awhile back with Space Marines.

It was slow, plodding with only brief bits of action and a very grainy look to it, like the entire thing was filmed in a dust storm.

I think a live action Space Marine plot would be hideously expensive , being all CGI a la AVATAR .

I don’t think Marines make interesting characters. Genetically modified super warriors who spend all their time praying and fighting aren’t relatable or seem will provide good story lines. They are great for games where there’s loads of action and story is secondary.

There are some really cool aspects of the universe that could be made into wonderful shows. Inquisition, Genestealer Cults, Arbites, etc. Any Necromunda-esque type stuff that focuses on characters and situations would work well. Some

I just don't see how Warhammer 40.000 is compatible with the mainstream. I can't imagine it not being watered down, twisted or just being a bore because what makes for good worldbuilding in a wargame is not necessarily great for a TV Show.

Very true. There is a politic parallel that certain folks will feel an inevitable draw towards but the key difference in 40K is that the universe IS OUT TO KILL EVERYONE. The life humans toil under is necessary because chaos, orks, eldar, tyranids, etc are always trying to muscle in and ain't no amount of UN-style peacekeeping pontification gonna change that.

I think the most viable option, unless Amazon is willing to spend all the moneys, would be something focused on like a research campus that starts getting corrupted by chaos and get a visit from the Inquisition to root it out. (hmmm, Resident Evil done right, I suppose, revisiting Event Horizon perhaps?) More intrigue, betrayal, and small scale violence/horror than Cavill leading a wave of Marines against an infected Hulk about to fall into a warp storm.

This is great. Everybody should have a hobby.

Water down 40k? Perish the thought.
