Beast, but just barely. That riff is so fucking iconic.

Number all the way.

So many great songs on the album though. The only clunker IMO is Gangland.

BTW, Clive Burr (drummer on the first three Maiden albums) died last week of multiple sclerosis. He was 56. RIP

Is it weird that both songs remind me of Queen's Keep Yourself Alive?

What you are about to read is heresy:

I have never heard any Iron Maiden besides what's played on radio until now. This thread got me to listen to Number of the Beast and it turns out that I really like it. So now I'm going to go through the Spotify catalog and see what scratches my itch.

Well done, bastards.

They see heavy play on Sirius XM. The ones that get played a lot that I've noticed are Flight of Icarus, Number of the Beast, Run to the Hills, Stranger in a Strange Land, and The Trooper.

They also play lots of others less frequently--for instance I was jamming to Can I Play With Madness on the way home from work yesterday.

I have heard The Trooper and Aces High on Sirius.

What I want to hear, however is Fear of the Dark. It is a later song, but might be my favorite. Part of that is because of:

Man, that might be too close to call. But I'm gonna have to give the nod to Run just because it inspired this VH1 commercial, 15 years before this kind of shit appeared anywhere on the "internet"

I guess I need to return my F:AT card then. I can't think of any occasion I would come home and put on a Maiden record. As a background noise to beer swilling, maybe, if the company insisted and were real lookers.

I like Run to the Hills better, but I think Number of the Beast is way more metal. Also good call on the awesome bass interlude.
