Wow.

Yeah, it's a big departure from previous albums with most songs going only about 3-4 minutes and have gone off the Metal ranch and into straight up stoner rock. They seem to have taken riffs from Thin Lizzy, lyrics, synth and psychedelia from early Hawkwind, then poured southern rock a la ZZ Top over the mix. It's like they've perfectly captured the entirety of 70s rock on one album.

Went great with my game of AH's TITAN this weekend.

This band....for working out I always go to Gods of the Earth. Apocryphon has been my running album, but I think this one will be for road trips and boardgames. Like I said, went perfect with TITAN and I imagine I'll be spinning it during DCC and Heroscape sessions. Dig it.

Wish I could put the whole album up here.

I loved their first Album and never got around to listening to the rest of their catalogue.

Which would you suggest I go to after "Age of Winter"?

I dunno, man. I generally like to listen to a band's catalog in order of releases to get a feel of how they've evolved. If I were to rate them at this point, it would be based on personal favorite determined by number of listens. Here's how currently they stand for me from top to bottom:

Gods of the Earth (2008) - This is the album that melted my face and made me a fan for life. The album is full of Robert E Howard and George RR Martin references. How Heavy this Axe...damn

Apocryphon (2012) - I feel this may be the culmination in regards to their first four albums. I think if you want to only own one of the first four and wanted a general idea, it'd be this one. The whole albums is great, but 'Hawks & Serpents', 'Eyes of the Stormwitch' and 'Apocryphon' are my favorite tracks. Unfortunately, there's no entertaining video for those so here's 'Cloak of Feathers'.

High Country (2015) - Like I said in the op, this album is a totally new game. Like 'The Dreamtheives' above 'Seriously Mysterious' is unlike anything on previous albums. For more experimentation check out 'Agartha'. I'm _really_ keyed into this album though. I think every track is fantastic, so I expect it to climb the ranks.

Warp Riders (2010) - Their sci-fi based concept album. This album has some amazing tracks on it, but a few that I'm not super excited about. 'Night City' and 'Lawless Lands' alternate as favorites, so you get both here. This album does contain my favorite cover of the five. Looks like an Atari 2600 cartridge.

Age of Winters (2006) - I know this is their big breakthrough first album and the one everyone is excited about, but I actually like it least. I think it's because I got into them with Gods of the Earth so of the two I favored that one. I should give Age of Winters more rotations this winter.

I have Age of Winters and love it. "Freya" and "Winter Wolves" are great.

Checking them out in order was my assumption but thanks for breaking them down.

Ha, yeah. That was probably a bit much with all the links and such. Guess I tend to evangelize the band. Anyway, hope you get into them.

I like Age of Winters and Gods of the Earth, enough to spend real cash money on them. But their lead singer is ...limited? I guess I like the 'no Autotune' philosophy, but the guy just can't sing. One bad singer in the car is enough. :)

I understand J. D. Cronise (the singer) enrolled in some vocal lessons after Gods of the Earth.
