That was a turdball. Lol at all the effects on Durst's vocal.

Good news, apparently I have latent limited precognitive powers developing. As I was driving into work this morning, I was slightly peeved..borderline pissy for no apparent reason. I must have had a glimpse of you linking that and me watching it.

Michael Barnes wrote: It's really hard to top PJ Proby's cover of Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart". I don't even know what the hell is going on with it. Obscure/cult-ish 1960s rocker taking on a post-punk masterpiece...sort of like a cock-rock song but with orchestral hits in it. And the lyrical change "Why is the bedroom so dad-gum cold?". For extra WTF, listen to the live version where he also uses a racial slur and rides out the song hollering "eat your heart out, negro". I had heard about this version for years and never heard until it- amazingly- turned up on Spotify. It is really dreadful.

I had to hear it for myself. Wow. Many levels of bizarre going on here...

I'll tell you what, if you want bad covers keep digging into the PJ Proby stuff. I didn't realize that he also had covers of "Sign o' The Times", "Heroes", "In the Air Tonight" and some other unexpected stuff. It's...yeah, well, it is was it is.

I'll be damned if his "Love Will Tear Us Apart" isn't stuck in my head. "...emotions won't grow- ha!"

This has to be a reference to Jerry Lee Lewis who was once so upset about being lower on a bill than Chuck Berry, he lit his piano aflame on stage while performing great balls of fire, then pushed past Berry backstage yelling "follow that ni----."

Six Feet Under - a death metal supergroup that otherwise has some great original stuff - has three notorious all-cover albums, including one of AC-DC's Back In Black album. Here is one representative example: overly exact and pointless, doing credit to neither band:

Jay- I dunno, listen to it...he starts out talking about the Ronettes, how he didn't know they were all women...then he says out of nowhere "But I didn't know that you were a n---". Then at the end, this weird "eat your heart out negro" thing...and "I play baseball too".

But there have been some good VU covers over the years...Bowie's live versions of White Light/White Heat are great...Joy Division's Sister Ray is too ("You should hear our version of Louie Louie).

Anything from Ryan Adams's album covering Taylor Swift's 1989.

I agree. The original is fine as is and doesn't need some dude with a guitar and very sincere hair giving us his take.

This...this is one of the very lowest points in Rock-n-Roll history.

The other cover that was a true low point was Last Kiss by Pearl Jam, an insipid cover of a song that sucked in its original form.

Alanis doing My Humps makes me love her even more than normal.

As the site's resident Bowie expert...I have to agree. I would also easily call that the nadir of Bowie's career. Jagger still has Freejack and "The Harlem Shuffle" to answer for.

It's so bad I have actually managed to avoid thinking about it for at least a decade.
