Modern music sucks, simple as that. It's probably also a psychic disorder that I don't like what other people like, i.e. mainstream or even stuff closely resembling such, like Arcade Fire, Vampire Weekend, LCD Soundsystem or the XX (X alone was good enough). So my album of 2010 is "Sleep Forever" by the Crocodiles, and I'm affirmed in my choice by pitchfork giving the album a lukewarm review. It is in fact the only band I've yet seen twice, which doesn't sound like much, but is considering almost all bands I like either lost members or are for other reasons not touring any more. I like this album because they continued what JAMC did for only one album. Here's my favourite song of the album, recorded at one of the two London gigs I attended:
Addendum: Crocodiles are supposed to be similar to No Age, but they are pretty dull in my opinion.

The first thing I thought of on listening to the intro of that Crocodiles song was "Spacemen 3". Once the singer started I thought "this is a dead ringer for a Cure b-side from 1980".
After listening to "Sleep Forever" which Youtube served up next, I thought "yeah, not wrong about the Spacemen 3 thing".
All of this adds up to a positive thing, so I'll have to check out more of their stuff. Which JAMC album were you thinking of, because it sure doesn't sound feedbacky enough to remind me of Psychocandy.

Sleep Forever isn't very Psychocandy, but usually there other stuff is. Also Hollow Hollow Eyes sounds a lot cleaner in this video than on the album, or the single version. The video host probably edited the sound, I don't remember it being so crisp.

Moss_icon, I agree completely.
Gemini by wild nothing is absolutely fantastic.
My absolute number 1 album of 2010.

This thread made me realize that I haven't really been listening to full albums lately. For me, digital downloads have killed the CD.
The new-to-me album that I've listened to most this year is probably Paul Westerberg's 49:00 (...Minutes of Your Life) from 2008. I'm not sure it was ever released in CD format. Instead, it's a single track that happens to have the length of an album. Within that track, individual songs mix together, butt against one another, and try to push each other off the stage. It's like a tape vault full of good, bad, and incomplete musical ideas has exploded and burned, leaving behind a gloriously confused slag heap of rawk. Some of the songs emerged from the conflagration relatively intact, while others burst into the speakers for only a few seconds before they burn out.
The track was originally released on Amazon's MP3 store. The idea, I guess, was to offer a full CD's worth of music for the single track price of 49 cents. Nowadays, you can find 49:00 in .zip file format on some fan websites.
