Dale Watson

Heading to Houston today for a family reunion this weekend, so I'm putting together a little road music and have to include some Dale. Dale Watson is something of a local legend, and prior to kids the wife and I used to go dancing at the Broken Spoke when he played.

Heh, you are a bit on the hillish side. Going to pull out some David Allan Coe next? Guess I can't talk, I have one too many John Prine songs memorized.

Ha! Maybe I'll drop the other Austin DW, Don Walser.

I first got turned on to Watson when he played at the Joe Strummer tribute concert at Stubbs. This was the weekend of Joe's death I believe.

For more honky-tonk, one of my buddies has recently turned me on to this guy, The King of Country Western Troubadours.

If Barnes doesn't have to apologize for Billy Joel, you don't have to apologize for Dale Watson.
