Back in the 90s, I ran a comic studio (Fifth Panel Comics) with a friend of mine for most of the decade. We published black-and-white comics across a variety of genres and lasted until distribution was reduced to one company (Diamond) who could then dictate terms to small producers (i.e. make us $X or we won't carry you) and we simply ran out of money to keep going. (Plus, my friend had three kids by then, so...)
A few months back, Jeff asked me if I'd be interested in trying again, publishing the material that I'd created for the studio as a Webcomic. I signed on and here we are:
www.dystopia.ink/
The main page shows you the latest page that Jeff has finished, but you can use the controls to go back to the beginning and/or click through previous/subsequent pages. There's a lot of background material on the setting and the publishing history in the News section of the website. At the moment, you have to scroll to the bottom to see the oldest posts and then scroll up to see the more recent stuff. The first one is here:
www.dystopia.ink/2024/04/20/the-origin-story/
You can also see all of the comic pages as separate links on the Comics section of the site.
We set up a Discord for those who'd like to talk more about the material, which is linked on the main page. If you know of anyone who's into comics, SF, horror, cyberpunk, and social philosophizing to go with all of that, PLEASE feel free to share the link with them. We're just trying to spread the word as far and wide as we can and then see where it goes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy.
