Younger folk seem to be embracing the HPV vaccine about like they do the covid vaccine and that has certainly shown an effect. It's all about the messaging I suppose. Granted, that is primarily a pediatric vaccine and the lethality is, in this country at least, far lower, so maybe it gets exempted from the "unvaccinated people are killing us with their contagious disease so let's throw them into the sun" rhetoric
I had a huge fight with a friend who wouldn't get her sons vaccinated against HPV. We haven't spoken in 10 years as a result. She felt that since men don't get cervical cancer, there was no reason for her sons to get the vaccine, and that it was women's responsibility to protect themselves and perfectly okay for her sons to be potential carriers. So, yeah, she can burn up in the sun, but I did feel sorry for her kids. I hope that now that her son's are adults, they have chosen to get the vaccine, although many health insurers don't cover the HPV vaccine if you are over 18, and it is pretty expensive (about $600).

Though I don't remember who did the polling, the biggest motivators look likely to be things you'd just miss out on--was it 40% or more who said a vaccination requirement to board a commercial airline flight would shift their thinking? It's less aggressive than I'd prefer, but if people prize the freedom to opt out of this that much, then they need to be ready to accept the tradeoffs that come with it: can't fly domestically, can't earn a paycheck from certain employers, etc.

Wasn’t Michael Douglas’ throat cancer caused by HPV?

Home Sweet Home.
I’ve been actively lobbying my mom to move from there for years now

Yep. It can also cause genital warts and penis cancer.
So how amazing is it that we have a vaccine that can prevent cancer!
I just think a person has to be some kind of monster to not protect their kids from horrible life threatening and/or life altering diseases PERIOD I just can't be friends with monsters. That's my line in the sand.

One of my old neighbors said she didn't need to get her kids vaccinated because everyone else's were. Then she got completely pissy when our school fell below the state-mandated vaccine threshold and unvaccinated kids were instructed to no longer report to school.

Since it is so bloody contagious that is the only thing to do as it spreads faster than humans can make decisions, you'd think from watching what happened over here in the UK when the Delta arrived - we shut the whole country down for months but still weren't fast enough to prevent tens of thousands of deaths - the rest of the world would pay attention but no, Sydney only locked down a few suburbs instead of the whole city and now they are in a bad place.
I've already posted back for all my friends and family in NZ to follow the Lockdown completely because once it gets in it will take a lot of pain, deaths, and money to get rid of it.

To me it is extremely frustrating that Abbott is receiving regeneron, which is for very very sick people. At least Trump, according to the Washington Post, was pretty close to going on a ventilator so his super advanced treatments were somewhat matched to his severity.
