For me, Trashfest was a success: I got in a crapload of games and got to know much of the Southern contingent. If it wasn't for Steve and his wife's REMARKABLE hospitality, the trip would not have been possible for me.
The overwhelming theme of this trip for me has to be family. First, my deep heartfelt condolences to Mr. Branham for the loss of his grandfather. The whole trip consisted of examples of how we constantly have to take family into account. At my job, there are smoke breaks. After each game, there were cell phone breaks to wives and kids. From conversations of planning around family obligations to missing the wife and kids to how publishing companies are now gearing games toward the family more than ever.
I have been with my wife for almost 20 years. Although my wife and I sometimes regret not being able to have kids, the freedom is sometimes nice. Lin is still my family and is my top priority. Tomorrow, I'm having my finger measured so I get get a replacement ring.
For me, family over gaming always. But once I have it budgeted, my job over gaming? Fuck that. That's why I almost felt bad for "Superfly" because he looked like he was an overworked Hollywood agent in the corner, drooling over CHAOSTLE!
I tried Nutella for the first time this week. Avery may be the Nutella and jelly of gaming. Which is a good thing.
