You are missing the feature where anyone that gives Cosmic Encounter a 1 gets automatically banned.

So, if submitting a game, do you want people to fill in everything that you see there? MSRP, categories, etc etc?
Should the teaser and description just come from the publisher, or should the poster fill that in as they wish?

You can just use the publisher description. If you want to provide more information you can.
Just fill in as much of the information as you can. Don’t let not knowing something hold you up. The only fields that absolutely must be filled in are the ones with the red star.

Closest thing is hunting them down and seeing their Thanks Yous to posts ratio. That has the side effect of making new awesome members appear even more awesome than old awesome members.

LOL. Actually, we do have the ability for members to award karma to other members (essentially thank the member instead of thanking the post) but I never implemented it because it seemed a bit Jr. High School to me.
I have implemented the ability to vote up member reviews as being helpful. So eventually folks can earn "Most Helpful" reviewer.

And I'll just mention that whoever wrote that rating system guide deserves five stars for it. That is exceptionally well written, and focuses on what I think are key points to consider.
