So here's the review of Lift-Off, over in the Review Section. It's a fun game, but I have to admit that I'm disappointed that it isn't just a little more kid-friendly. It has enough "game" there, not to mention Euroglyphics, that keeps its more accessible qualities behind the hobbyist wall. Sort of like how Pompeii has all of that weird set-up and a two act structure. This one has a moon thing going on that I do not like that sort of interferes with the more simple (and more fun) semi-co-op elements of it. It does look really good, and if you like a little take that in the mix it's there. Overall not bad at all, and probably one to look at if you want to entertain some older kids or gamers that want something similar to Survive! but with a little more to consider.

I stopped watching movies and listening to music.

Not really. In the forums and occassionally on the front page. I wanted to get the thursday article/discussion focused back on games.

Sounds like a KS game...Goggled it and it was.
The box says 13+? The KS says 8+ and I wonder if it was to avoid the testing needed to put less than 13 on the box.

A game that was not on my radar and doesn't sound like it needs to be. Why is it so hard for a designer to practice some restraint? Sounded like it was a good concept and start but then someone got to tinkering.

Michael, your comments regarding player counts in Forbidden Stars tallies with other reviews so even though you haven't played against other human opponents yet, your instincts would appear to be spot on. I've decided to hold off on FS for now and see what everyone is saying about it in twelve months. I don't really need another game in this bracket and the high price is cause for pause. I hope the combat doesn't turn out to be too convoluted, as that coupled with the price would be a deal-breaker for me. I look forward to your full review.

Too bad about lift off. It looks like a cute family game, but sounds like a bit of a mess. I also hate it when designers can't make a decision and deal with it by adding a bunch of variants.

You ever play Zulus on the Ramparts? That remains my favorite VPG release.

I really like that FS really has little component outside what's on the board. That's a huge plus for me, especially when compared to Rune Wars.
