Thanks for putting this together! Great review!
I'm very interested, but already owning BB:TM I'm not sure how much I'll get this one out. I'd love to give it a try though.
Probably the most 'on the bubble' title for me atm.

I played this at the Dice Tower convention this summer where the designer was demoing the game. I thought it was pretty cool and would have loved to own it had the price been much lower. It's way too expensive for a game I would have a hard time getting played with the people I game with. None of them like sports and definitely not baseball, including me. That being said, I loved the game and it was an on the fence purchase for a while. Luckily yesterday I saw this was coming to IOS and Android which sealed the deal for me. That seems like the ideal way to play the game. Not sure if mulitiplayer was going to be included, but hopefully it will

Very nice review! I play this with my son and we both really enjoy it, despite neither of us being baseball fans (he prefers soccer). We like the rapid-fire succession of reactions, bluffs, etc. We also usually skip the first "warmup" series and just draft the first Free Agents and go straight into the regular series.

I played BH2045 recently as a 5-player (two-round ) round robin tournament. It was surprisingly fun, partly because you weren't stuck playing the same opponent repeatedly. I.e., there was a certain degree of "what does he have up his sleeve?" if you didn't pay attention to what was being drafted into each person's deck. (I didn't.)
So... I enjoyed the tourney format. I'm guessing that playing two-player would be less enjoyable, since you'd get to know the other person's deck pretty well. This would allow for more strategy, I guess, but that's not why I played. I played to have silly dogs-and-beer fun.
I also wonder whether an early 'killer' draft can throw the game. The two players in the final series (the host and yours truly) both scored powerful cards in the early rounds that were also big money producers. Coincidence?
By the way, I'm not even remotely interested in baseball. Though I did play/watch as a kid, which probably helped.
Edit: I forgot to mention that we played with tons of expansion stuff. No coach abilities, but lots of other expansion teams/cards.

Played this with Mike F. at BGG con last year and really liked it. Even managed to beat him pretty handily.
This is coming out soon on iOS, so I'll definitely pick that up. Didn't seem like a hard copy purchase for me, though, as I didn't think I'd have much chance to play it.

I saw that it was coming to iOS and I am fairly excited about that - it would be perfect on the tablet as well. It sounds like it is just solo and 2 player hotseat for the moment.
The unknown opponent factor is definitely a reason I want to try out the 4+ player format. I think getting an early, great card would help out a lot more in a multiplayer game since you could surprise people with it when you go up against them later in the tournament. In a 2 player game you would know what to expect (if you were doing your homework) and could better prepare for it. I can definitely see the multiplayer games being a lot more random and chaotic, not that that's necessarily a bad thing!
