"This is where my character has his genetalia stolen by a giant praying mantis (also becoming "Invincible")."

Precious few games used the dreaded "genitilia snatching" mechanism.

I think it would have made an awesome, beautiful, and disturbing RPG. Hardback Player/GM book combo, lush artwork, full pages laying out the world, ideas, and feel. Its really unique.

But seems like a fucking mess when all laid out on the table. Just as much could be done with a book, sheets of paper, and 1/5 the price. I have a hard enough time getting Arkham Horror on the table (both time wise and physically). This just seems like too much. And no shit, who wants to glue all that together?

But gods if I don't want an art book or setting guild to lay 5e DnD rules on top of.

There is a lot of RPG in KD. The rulebook is a fairly lush artwork heavy rulebook. The general style is watercolor, but there is more of it than most RPGS.

From the RPG side, it reminds me of Mutant Zero, save that the events and settlement crafting and combat are a lot more detailed in KD. So pretty much everything.

You could lose the minis, but losing the cards would be hard if not impossible. There is So much detail on them. Every monster AI card and hit location is different, and pretty much every battle has some notable crit or change of tide. Because gear is treated as communal, you trade it around more than in most RPGs.

The game also isn't that sprawling when playing. You have a set of cards out for each monster as well as a set of settlement cards when you jump to that phase. Everything else is tracked on Rpg sheets.
