last call

I saw an add for this  and remembered how much I enjoyed playing this simple little game at GenCon.

Last call is a set collection game about bartending. You have (five? maybe four?) secret orders to fill which are a combination of liquors. The orders range from really easy (screwdriver) to somewhat complicated (long island ice tea) and each person has the same range of orders (one easy, one medium, one hard..ect)

long island ice tea

The game starts with six trays each with six bottles. Each turn you flip a card and get to move a bottle to or from that bartender's tray. If you ever get a combination that is close to your order you call “order up!" and score your order. Any extra ingredients count as penalties (represented as ice cubes). You then become the dealer and cannot call order up until the dealer passes to the next player.

Completing all your orders first is a huge benefit because once someone fills their orders; everyone else must also fill their orders by taking a penalty for each bottle they have to move.

I really liked the bright graphics and fun components. It is a great fit for the game and really adds to the bartending feel of the game. Game play was fast 15-20 minutes and meant to be played over several rounds. Grats to Woepsag for a fun little game. I will definitely be enjoying it over rum runners and whiskey sours when it comes out.

(BTW it is almost mandatory to add some drinking game rules to this and I hear the 'deluxe' version will include mini bottles)
