A pretty magical documentary on the career of one Fred Rogers and his life-long commitment to children.

I haven't seen the film yet. Super lazy and full if excuses I suppose.
I met Fred once during seminary in '96. He was giving a lecture during one of our child psychology classes.
I met him after wards and was able to chat a bit. I was the most star struck I have ever been. His impact on my childhood is immeasurable.
He took pics of us together with his a disposable instamatic, then afterwards sent me a handwritten letter containing them.
I think the best two words to describe Fred Rogers is Kind and Deliberate. I doubt there was ever a time when he was neither.
The world misses you and needs you, Mr. Rogers. Apparently we learned nothing from the decades that you tried to teach us.

Yeah Crayons, there's a great segment where a woman meets him for the first time as an adult and she just MELTS. It's amazing to watch and completely understandable. You have to see this.

I really liked this movie, and like all of you, I grew up with Mr. Rogers.
I cried a lot, but I knew I would going in so I didn't try to fight it. What I wonder now, though, is why do so many of us cry? Shouldn't seeing such a kind a gentle man fill us with joy instead? I suspect that part of it is just a deep longing for warmth and understanding that seems to be disappearing from our world.

i don't think they are tears of sadness. Maybe longing, but yeah I think it's just being exposed to such a raw form and display of love. It's overwhelming.

Sincerity means a lot more than people often seem to beleive.
We hear and say "I love you" often. And just as often, we don't mean it, nor do we trust that when where told we're loved that it is true.
But Mr. Rogers doesn't even have to say that phrase, for you to know he means it. In utter sincerity.
Every act he does is deliberate and kind. The type of acts that take you so fully into consideration, that you don't even care for yourself as strongly as he does for you. It's easy to be taken aback.
This is why Fred is sacrosanct.
He lets you know that the trite platitude given by Lennon about 'All you need is love' is more than that. It's a true epiphany and not the cynical platitude society wants you to think it is.
This is why we weep when Rogers displays his love. The sincerity is so real, that even your own mother doesn't love you as much as he does.
He was one of the only people to actually ever truly practice what he preached.
