The main character is like a third rate Sherlock Holmes, with everything set in a Steampunk version of Victorian England. The writing is not that great -- aimed at young adults (I think/hope).
That being said, this is the reason I like kickstarter. I can imagine being a 10-12 year old kid and going crazy if some of my favorite books were made into games (in fact, I did -- hence my continued questionable love for the Dragonlance flying dragon combat game). I'm happy for the fans of the series...the gameplay will have to be remarkably better than the novels, though.

I quite like the books. Better than Harry Potter garbage but that's not a high bar.
