Ilya Baronovsky‘s PnP files seem to have disappeared from the internet. At least, other people are reporting that they are gone, and I can’t find them either. Maybe you could check if they are still where you got them from.

If not, it’s a clue that GF9 may be using Ilya’s artwork.

I did some digging, and it appears that you are correct. The files that Baronovsky uploaded himself are gone at least.

This is a very strong hint that we may indeed see Baronovsky's efforts being produced by GF9, instead of just using his work as a placeholder to announce the game production at GAMA.

Though that same digging did reveal they are still extant in other corners of the internet. But considering how much cost in time, effort, and cash to produce your own PnP, it would be foolish to do so when you could just go to the store and buy one for a heck of a lot less than that.

PnP productions charges $120 to do it for you, before adding any other bits and upgrades. I doubt the GF9 version would be that much.

Six factions with matching plastic components - I don't think we're in for a $50 big box with the new edition, but who knows?

I really hope they're using Ilya's rework. The game is being released as part of the rollout for the new movie... I love me some Hogwarts Battle, but I'd rather have a $120 PnP than a copy of Dune covered in movie stills.

Those files have been gone for a couple of years. I printed out my own copy five or six years ago, the board started to see some wear, went to see if I could print it out again and couldn't find it, so I sprung for the PnP Production version instead.

I am freaking out over here. I traded away the Fancy French version (to Matt Loter, so it's all good, cosmically), figuring REX would be fine, and was so wrong, ugh. Can't wait to see a gorgeous version of this. It's such an incredible game.

@san il defanso We are being very careful with the rules. We understand how valuable the original game and game play is.

Is this the final grail game reprint?

The street value of Rex is about 90 cents now.

Yeah, about a year ago, I went looking for the Ilya PnP files, too, and couldn't find them anywhere. If they have only been missing for a year, that might support the theory that they are using Ilya for the new Dune edition. But if they have been missing for at least a couple of years, then there was some other reason like maybe the Herbert estate protecting their turf.

Coming up on 50k hits and 2.1k shares. This post was like a dude in a gorilla suit flipping a sign in front of a floppy noodle man.

Unlike Dune, Magic Realm needs a good revision not just a reprint. There's so much potential because the core genius of Magic Realm (eg chit system) isn't that complicated and could be distilled to compete with current adventure games imho.

A friend of mine sent this news to me. Great, but I already have my AH copy, and I can make the upgraded shields and cards on my own. Unless it looks a kabajillion times better and they don't fuck up the rulebook, I'm passing on it.

I think it must be exciting and interesting for designers to go back and revisit a game they designed 35 years ago.
