I don't do Cthulhu Wars, but thematically this makes a lot of sense to have cats in the game.

They played an elusive yet strong role in a few stories, especially the dreamlands stories like Through the Gate of the Silver Key.

One day only for the KS [is] ridiculous though. I hear some stuff for Cthulhu Wars is hard to come by.

After hearing such good things about the game, and being tantalized by this faction, the limited purchasing window pushes me away.

they mention somewhere that there will be a pledge manager for late backers at some point down the road, and that the faction will be available theoretically on their website at some point in the future as well (i say theoretically because ive never actually seen any factions available on their website myself. they all just show as sold out always, but i assume at some point they were available).

That's one of the things that has kept me from being a full-on CW enthusiast. If I want to give you money so I have more ways to play the game, don't give me limited-time bullshit or make me chase expansions down like they were 1930s-era baseball cards. I get that Petersen Games is not like a regular publisher and can't warehouse or distribute in the same way that Asmodee can. But treating everything like one-time FOMO opportunities is an effective marketing plan only to a point. With the wealth of options out there, you have to provide some level of accessibility or people (like me) will turn to other things that they can actually obtain and enjoy, since we can't be part of the club.

100% agree. The gate-keeping on this game makes me very happy that my friend owns the game, and not me.

Yea the full Cthulhu wars package is a thing for lunatics to chase. I got a great deal on the base game, and would like to grab a couple factions to mix and match. Theyre too expensive and hard to get to even try to get many of those, let alone the billion other things. It's a shame, but I think just the base game and a couple factions will be plenty of game.

There's a wager in the company staff. Someone said they could clear $250k in funding in 24 hours.

I guess they solved (or this is solving) the company's cash flow issues. IIRC, less than a year ago they were considering running a no-reward KS just to get money to pay for production of their previous KS's. The FOMO business model gets them 100k from this already so I predict they'll do more of these smaller KS's to try and climb out of the hole they dug with the bigger ones.

Just because it's not funny doesn't mean it's not a joke.

A shame it was on April Fools Day as I was too busy reading other stuff (like one our of major sporting codes using a large stadium to farm sheep in between games as a parallel source of income) and did not have time to get into this .....

Hey, I love this game and so I order pretty much anything that offers game play options.

I did give it a sideways glance... but have no interest in CW so I declined. But hey... cats.
