There really isn't. It's basically just a modern version of the AH one. Tokens are a little nicer; cards look a little nicer; etc. But nothing drastic. I was also kind of annoyed that they split the faction abilities out to boards, rather than just including them on the interior of the screens, like the original, but whatevs. Like I said before, I just picked up a copy because my AH one has seen many better days and is actually missing a couple army tokens (which are easily compensated for.)

You need to trot that puppy out on game night and when people ask reply, "oh, there's a new printing? I didn't know! I thought everybody already had an original copy like me."

There isn't. However, I highly recommend you to try some of the new rules tweak, specially Fremen's and Emperor's new alliance powers.

I'm jealous you all have a copy. I have a review ready and I'm very proud of it but I can't publish it without pictures and I won't get them until a Spanish shop brings a copy.

The GF9 FAQ has finally dropped: www.gf9games.com/dune/30083

I'm glad they got around to it, but at the same time....

It's a fairly devastating indictment of their process for bringing this game back to market having enlisted the help of the original designers that they ended up with a densely-packed 4 page FAQ.

There are many long-time high profile players of this game that have extensively noodled over solutions to the corner cases and original rules ambiguities for almost all of the 40 year existence of this title. Not only did they just whiff on clarifying some of the longstanding items, they managed to introduce new ones!

Though I long ago lost my ability to be surprised at game companies' capacity to produce things chock-full of amateur hour flubs, this one is especially annoying because there was ample opportunity here to have folded all this into the product from day 1.

GF9 really struggling at the moment, I think, with the design team leaving. They were never the tightest rules outfit even before...

Wow, so bribes are not instantaneous? I mean, I appreciate it because that's how fans managed to keep it in cheek but I don't remember it being part of the new manual. Am I right or did I just skip it?

You're absolutely right, the GF9 rules are totally silent about when spice is transferred as part of a bribe. It's a pretty important bit of precision for stopping someone poised to win, which just reinforces my points above.

Awesome. I always appreciate a passionate MB review. :) I really need to play this game soon, of course gaming time is scarcer than ever.

This is a lazy reprint with shoddy rules writing IMO. It's still a great game of course.

I think Rex is actually still the best version of this game engine
