#49 Space Hulk
I wish someone would redesign the Space Hulk campaign. With...

#50 High Society

Sometimes, the best things come in the smallest boxes. Of all Reiner Knizia’s auction designs, High Society is the most flexible and the best value. A single deck of cards with simple rules that has the agonising limited bid options of Ra and the nasty profit trap moments of Modern Art. Simple and quick, vicious and addictive it deserves a place in every collection.

I can't forgive you for including Splendor this high up.

I want a divorce.

TBF I have no great desire to play it now, but when it was doing the rounds it got like 25 plays before people got tired of it. That merits a good spot on a list like this, in my book, however bad everyone else thinks it is :D

Splendor is an amazing engine game that masterfully distills everything about the *much* more complicated genre into a tiny package.

Yeah, but honestly, I've never seen any other game kill conversation as quickly as Splendor. That may be due to its refinement, a curse that accompanies the blessing.

I think part of it is that the turns are potentially so quick (or occasionally longer as people think about stuff) that you can easily miss when someone has taken a turn if you're having a conversation or not paying attention.

Maybe there should be an "it's your turn" button that is passed around, like the dice automatically get shuffled around in a game of Catan.

Back to the article... I'm glad to see Root high, but until I see the last 25 games I can't complain about which of my favorite games you've left off the list. Also there's a lot of stuff on here that I haven't played.
