Oh man-I just picked up a vintage Blood Bowl 3rd Edition. I keep hearing great things about Blitz Bowl however. Great write-up.

Nice run-down. Broadly in agreement with your opinions bar Crypt Hunters which I didn't care much for. It seemed a great opportunity to make a much better game on the Lost Patrol base, and it's a bust. When you consider the Chainrasps also get some upgrades, the re-balancing essentially comes down to the Stormcasts getting a better to-hit chance and it's not enough. Given there's some strategy in the tile-laying system there's the potential for an unusual dungeon crawl here but they've opted for a lazy reskin instead.

Some notes for those looking to purchase:

1) The run-up to Xmas (Black Friday, etc.) is typically a great time when B&N starts plastering discounts all over the place, and many of them stack, so for example you can get a 20% off coupon for anything plus a $5 credit for boardgames and really save some $$$, not to mention...

2) B&N does "free shipping" at $35 and most of these games are in that range, so no "shipping kills the deal" disappointment

3) B&N still has the initial 2018 trio of games in stock as well, in case you want to go back & pick those up to complete the set

4) B&N also sells the expansion teams for Blitz Bowl as well as expansion mission packs for Space Marine Adventures that feature folks with different gear/skills

5) And as if that weren't enough, B&N also sells GW paint sets marketed specifically for these B&N sets (featuring Citadel paints)

Happy Holidays!

Good reviews today. We were just talking about the type of price range and simplicity where kids could play themselves in the Heroquest hasbro KS-like thread.

FYI - James H. also contributed to the original design, and second edition of DreadBall.

My play order of preference: DreadBall, Blitz Bow, Blood Bowl.

I wonder how/if these games tie into the YA (or even pre-teen?) WH40K books they just released. It is such an odd thing to see this license skew so young.

I'm tempted to buy Blitz Bowl season 1 instead of season 2, just because it's got the drill card tutorial and I think orks are way more classic than dwarves. Is that insane? This would be for playing with my young kid.

I think it's a little insane. The ball rules are such a huge addition.

Does anyone want to split a Lizardmen box? My son loves the lizardmen.

I could be tempted, but it'll depend on postage as I'm in the UK.
