Survive: Escape from Atlantis Review (Digital Eyes)

It sounds terrifying and is almost as if you're watching...

It was panic stations - everyone for themselves. Even though we had arrived on the island in groups, all of that went out of the window. If you saw a boat, you did all you could to get on it and sail away from the island. There was no time. Bit by bit, the island was sinking. Some poor souls jumped into the water in a desperate attempt to swim to the mainland, but they had to contend with sharks and sea monsters. Nowhere was really safe. All we could do was Survive: Escape from Atlantis by Stronghold Games.

I played the beejezuz out of the PB version when I was a kid. When I got older, I donated it, along with several other boardgames, to my sister's classroom.

Regret it now, but I hope the younglings enjoyed it as much as I had.

Lovely review for a lovely game.
I played the PB version in the late 80s over one weekend. I never forgot.
I was quick to buy Stonghold's version when it was first released. Great fun, but I was never really impressed with the presentation. I bought the unnecessary expansions.
Last year, I found a copy of the old PB at Goodwill for $3. It was only missing one meeple. The illustrations are far better, and no punches are pulled. It straight up says, "Harpoon a whale."
