I ordered this based on your review, very excited, you really sold me on the game. One question though - if I bought the Essential Edition and Classic expansion, where can I get the solo mode you have described?

Ah, that is actually in the Fractures of Time expansion, which I think they are saying is restocking in Q4. You can also get it in the Infinity Box.
Now, to be clear, there are three solo modes. Chronobot 1.0 is free to download ok Mindcladh’s site and you can use it with most of what you have. It’s a good, very solid play but not quite as dynamic as Chronobot 2.0 and much less versatile than Chronossus. Chronossus can play with most of the expansion content and it’s a quite formidable challenge to beat.
I played with a P&P copy of 1.0 and enjoyed it, it should tide you over until you can get Fractures of Time...or get loose like I did and just get the Infinity Box.
Enjoy it!

Great, thank you. I’m reliably awful at solo modes, so i suspect the print and play one will tide me over until that’s back out. I could work it out from their site, . I also think I might know a few people who’d play the base game, and given the speed at which I can set up a games night q4 will roll around as quick as …. insert suitably time-related pun.

I came back to say - to anybody on the fence about this one, very big recommend. The review perfectly describes the game experience. I would not describe myself as a 'hardcore' player by any means, but three hours playing this made me feel like one! Really looking forward to trying out the extra bits.

Great to hear! The expansions add a lot of neat stuff- they really are more like modules so you can adjust them how you like or vary the game from play to play.
