I am glad if they follow through. But I have a hard believing that any investment into PG will show positive returns. They are deeply in debt and terribly mismanaged. Plus, they are resistant to change.

I'm not clear on who here is a backer and who is enjoying some Kickstarter schadenfreude, so here's the official language. I would say you're dead on:

It has been a very turbulent few years at Petersen Games. Everyone has an opinion on everything we've said and done, and we've certainly made our fair share of mistakes (perhaps more than our fair share!). He is working on fulfilling Sub Terra 2 via Naylor Games but he didn't pick up the entire tab for the outstanding backers but did acquire the assets and brand of Inside the Box.

And the mystery sucker- ahem, BENEFACTOR is revealed! Maybe. Petersen Games is apparently going to partner with Catalyst Game Labs; a company that I'd never heard of but which Arthur reassures everyone is an "industry veteran" as the publishing arm. Looking through their titles on BGG, I see a massive presence in Robotech (dozens and dozens of products), a lone title called Dragonfire, a game with expansions called The Duke (highest ranking on BGG, for whatever that's worth) and not much else. But, hey, whatever works for them, I guess. This doesn't mean that Catalyst was the one that paid the shipping bill, of course, and the way Arthur describes it is much less of a "we paid your freight so you work for us now" situation, but whatevs. Don't know. Don't care. I'm done with Petersen for the rest of time.

Shipping notifications went out today and UPS has avoided a strike, so I guess the five-year debacle is almost over.

Not Robotech, Battletech.

Also known for creative financing on home improvements, so that is a great match!

I will be absolutely fascinated to see how their next kickstarter goes.

Right. Sorry. Mental block. I see Battletech and all I can think of is Robotech and I wasn't even a fan of the anime.

Catalyst put out an announcement, so it is more than just a l'il help getting stuff out the door. THAT might be an interesting booth to hang around this weekend if some of the reactions I have heard are any indication.

FWIW, Catalyst is essentially the inheritor of FASA as they also do Shadowrun.

Yep. Mine's supposed to be here on Friday. Meanwhile, all the talk on the KS page is about how Catalyst are also awful at fulfilling pledges and basic logistical stuff that a lot of people find shady so, in a way, it seems like a perfect match. I will say that it will be interesting to have a couple new factions on the board the next time we play, but there are a lot of other games competing for (ahem) time and space these days, so...
