How much did you turn Gorechosen around for? The base miniatures alone retail at $140 these days.

All of the art, or at least almost all of it, is repurposed in Lost Relics. The maps are like images of Silver Tower tiles arranged on a single board.

Otherwise, damn you MB. Looks like I'll have to pick up BB v3 (the ULTIMATE edition). On the positive, I'll have enough pitches between all three versions to run a league. LOL. Face to face leagues in a post pandemic era is a joke...

Now that GW is fully supporting Blood Bowl 7's, we really haven't gone back to Blitz Bowl or full-on Blood Bowl. 7's gives you all the flavor and league play options in the original but in a 45-60 minute play time.

It feels like Blitz Bowl was overrated because of its North-American-only status (so the UK GW crowd were mostly shut out). The card play does make it feel (IMHO) more like a boardgame than actual Blood Bowl. And I also agree that BB7's is a proper shorter way to get the chaos of BB without resorting to the gimmicky Blitz Bowl card play. I don't think Blitz Bowl is a bad game, but for me it def lacks the krazy khaos fun of real Blood Bowl.blatz wrote: I really like Blitz Bowl, but it fell totally flat with my group. The biggest complaint is that it doesn't really feel like you're playing a sport. "Move 3 guys into your openent's end zone" feels like a weird way to score.

That said, BzB has to be looked at a little differently than regular sports. If one reads the fluff, it's about aspirational players who fight tooth and nail to get onto a pitch where they basically are just trying to prove their skills to coaches and scouts. The coaches and fans yell from the stands and the players try to impress. This is minor, minor league stakes where the players just wanna get a look and maybe appear on a draft board. So, through that lens, the players successfully performing stunts is appropriate to score in the confines of boardgame rules...it's the point. Scoring TDs is also nice, but isn't the end goal itself.
Another way to think about it, and how I frame my BzB events, is more like pro-wrestling. At the end of pro-wrestling match, it really doesn't matter who wins or loses, but how over the worker gets with the crowd. Similar thing here, the TDs are the team objective but they aren't the end all of the event for the players. A team can lose on TDs, but still make a name for themselves and sell more tees at the merch booth, thus 'win'.
ECW! ECW! (err...) BzB! BzB!
I love all these BB titles and at the moment would maybe rank them: 11s, DB, BzB, BB:TM, 7s. but regardless, I'd currently play any of these five over most anything else.
EDIT: BzB is also my son's favorite way to play BB because of the card play. He's not too into boardgames, but is into CCGs, so BzB hits that spot between us. It's a great title. Also, I'm glad The Crush crew (podcasters and BzB advocates) have been able to be part of the UE update. They've kept the game in line with Hewitt's original design.
