I want to see how they handle damage. I hate chit pull. I want cards.

Probbaly why I don't do miniatures games then, that proce my be close to £50 when it hits UK shores so definitely won't be looking at it unfortunately.

It's tough for you UK folks. At online discount the starter set will be like $35 in the states, which makes it a little more reasonable.

I saw the reference to Scar and to named-pilot ships, but while a base sounds kind of cool, this seems to have pretty short legs. Of course, to my far-from-expert eye, most of the Sails of Glory ships look the same, too, and there are three or four large waves of those (and at least many of the early Wings of War minis were just repaints of the same model).

It looks to me like you are correct. The models of the named ships are the same as the standard, but have "markings" (i.e. slightly different paints), and come with special named pilot cards.

Thanks. Just to be clear, I wasn't be critical of anything, just noting that as a potential "mine" for content, BSG is somewhat surprisingly thin for ship models given the lack of differentiation (which ties into the theme but makes getting a bunch of different minis less attractive--to me at least).

Sounds like a positive feature.

The only way I see this working is as an event game enhancer where you’re playing FFG Battlestar and have to resolve dogfights via playing this game or something.

Standalone, it’s basically 6 enemy types, seven if you add the civvy transports:

Battlestar
Basestar
Viper
Raider
Raptor
Cylon Heavy

I think they will lean hard on different pilots...Apollo, Starbuck, Boomer, Helo, Hot Dog...rather than different ships.

I’m wondering how they’ll do capitals because that is a big part of BSG...but waaaaaaaay out of scale. I mean, a Battlestar isn’t really possible in this game unless the fighters are the size they are in Armada.

Yeah, that's how you track your current direction and speed. Your ship’s nose can point any direction you want so you can’t use it as an indicator of current motion,

That part looks pretty interesting. I’ll be curious to see how much it adds to game play.

Most people don't give a shit but tracking direction of movement separate from facing is a pretty awesome complication tactically.

Star Warriors did that, as do a bunch of other spacey old school games that use inertia.

The vipers do all kinds of inertia stuff in the show so it is on brand.

The inertial stuff on its own is interesting, but the game has missiles in it as well which make things very interesting as well. This is partucularly true with the inertial, because you need to maintain movement or you’re toast. Talon has missiles as well and they really change the game.

Does X-Wing have missiles?

Don't recall ever seeing missiles in Star Wars.

*whispers* Proton Torpedoes
*whispers* Concussion missiles from prequels

Personally, I like how Mission Command: Sea deals with missiles.
