Not for the original Dune board game mind you (I think FFG still has this with Rex), but I'm really curious to see what they do with it.

Pretty exciting news for me. Haven't bought a board game in a long time but pretty much no matter what this is that will break that spell. Wish that one guy hadn't passed away, their stuff together seemed to be better.

Actually, it would be hilarious if they focused on all the non-Frank Herbert stuff. Then I wouldn't buy anything.

Dune the game is good, Dune the license not so much. Good luck to them.

Oh shiiiittttttttttttttt.

My reaction to every GF9 game I've played has ranged from great admiration to absolute love (with the exception of Firefly, which sucks, fight me). No reason to think they won't knock this outta the park.

It’s everything-

As master licensee, GF9 will produce original tabletop games drawing from the extensive DUNE franchise – including printed work by Frank Herbert, Brian Herbert, and Kevin J. Anderson, as well as direct tie-ins with Legendary’s upcoming film directed by Denis Villeneuve

Can't wait to see what will be produced for the movie and the licensed board games.

So, what stops GF9 from approaching the original designer and going all restoration games on the original game. I mean the Forbidden Island, Desert, Sky franchise are virtually rethemes of pandemic and those got made?

GF9's best game designer died a couple of years ago, during the development of the Dr. Who boardgame. That's why Dr. Who was disappointing and nothing they have done since then has been great. If they were doing an updated version of the classic Dune boardgame, I could be interested. But "As master licensee, GF9 will produce original tabletop games drawing from the extensive DUNE franchise" indicates otherwise.

I may be the only one who enjoys all the new Dune material.

It's either enjoy it for what it is, or never read another new Dune based story.
