Prêt-à-Porter uses the simple mechanism of worker placement to ease...

A remake of the classic economic board game about running a design company and trying to succeed in the ruthless world of fashion.

Anybody with impressions on the original version gameplaywise? Ignacy is big hit or miss with me.

I'm not too interested in the game itself, but I'm glad they are keeping the fashion setting. It was always a shame to see so many be dissmissive about it because it has a "female-friendly (sic)" theme. I actually thought they made a version of it with videogames, which seemed dissapointing to me.

I really enjoy the first edition, but the rulebook isn't great and there were some wonky production issues. This new edition addresses both, and I'm on it. Won't be the first portal (Neuroshima Hex) or Ignacy (51st State) game I've bought multiple times.

They were working on a video game development retheme for a long time. I'm really glad they are republishing with the original theme, personally. I backed this one, though I might pull out and just wait for retail in the end. Depends on how excited my wife is to play it most likely.

Isn't there some chatter about it not going to retail? Maybe I misheard.

Yeah, the campaign suggests no retail unless the store itself decided to back via KS.

It's coming to retail, there was just a KS update taking about it earlier this morning

Wow, thanks for the correction, I totally misread the KS campaign materials then.

I owned the second edition, which still had a terrible rulebook, and played it several times. It's been five years since I last played. Because it was a longer/heavier game (and I'd have to relearn the rules), it didn't come out as much as I'd have liked. I only sold it because I knew of the upcoming reprint and wanted to get that OOP money.

It's a solid economic worker placement game. I like the "putting on a show" competition aspect of it quite a bit. The only other game I know of / have played with that kind of a show mechanic is Dungeon Petz. (I'm sure there are others that do similarly.)

Also, +1 to them keeping the fashion theme instead of going with video games.

I enjoy this concept too. The only other ones I can think of are Colosseum and Trickerion, but the latter was too far in the Euro weeds for me (in the vein of overblown KS stuff like Feudum). I wanted to pick up Colosseum but missed the boat on the original DoW edition and really didn't like the art direction on the re-issue from Tasty Minstrel.

I think Kickstarter is a good fit for this. It'll get it a bigger audience who might be more into the theme with the publicity of a campaign.
