Metal Gear Solid Board Game

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha...”Day one edition”, $135 retail...speaking as a HUGE MGS fan...NOPE.

Plus. I could give a fuck if the game captures the “stealth action”...there are a thousand games that do that including the excellent Execution Force. How about an MGS game that captures the THEMES, metatextual commentary, and surrealism of the games? That would be a hell of a lot more interesting.

I was interested until I saw the price, and the larger minis do not look good. I also think this suffers from the Batman problem of most characters being Snake and... Not Snake.

But will I get weird ugh T&A and gross sex stuff mascarading as DEEP CONTENT?

When I saw this game was coming from Emerson Matsuchi I figured it would be a reskinned Specter Ops. I mean everyone everywhere called Specter Ops Metal Gear Solid The Board Game when it came out. But instead it's a fully cooperative $135 pile of nonsense. Like... Hidden movement is the most natural fit for this license you could ever ever come up with. Why would you not do the obvious thing here?

Probably because he already made that, like you said, it's called Specter Ops.

I actually have a little bit of hope for this one because it's Emerson. Specter Ops is such a great game, but I'm glad they didn't just re-skin or re-implement it. I do agree that it has the Batman/Conan problem with forcing players to take on side characters, although I don't mind this at all in Conan. It fits a little less well here I think.
