I'm sure some of you play party games once in a while. What are your favorites?

Do you prefer SPIN THE BOTTLE to its expansion, SEVEN MINUTES IN HEAVEN?

CA$H AND GUN$ as a party game? I dunno...six is a small party...I guess it kind of is though.

The only party game worth playing as far as I'm concerned is TIME'S UP. That's a blast. Me and my friend Derek are practically invincible at it. It's like there's a deep-rooted psychic connection between us. He can shift his eyes and I know right away- "Bella Abzug!"

ROCK BAND 2 is the best party game ever made though.

I love word games (PLXT, Boggle, etc.) if the competition is reasonably level, but that scenario is purely theoretical.

I love games where people have to establish rules (Apples to Apples, Scattergories), but this is crowd-dependent.

I love games that encourage creativity (Big Idea, Balderdash, etc.).

Games that are dependent upon fact recall (Trivial Pursuit, Outburst, etc.), mental dexterity (Taboo, Time's Up, Pictionary, etc.), or physical dexterity are a tier below, but are the ones that work best with most crowds.

Sorry I didn't play by your rules...

I would go so far to say the Rock Band / Guitar Hero family are the best games, period. I love party games...

My bachelor party was me and two buddies on the beach drinking booze and singing tunes. I usually party with about 3-6 people. That's a good time in my book. Crack out the guitars/mandolins and bring the songbook.

Does that make me a loser?

EAT POOP, YOU CAT It is a great one. Expect a number of "meh" results, but the ones that "work" are really hilarious.

WHAT IF? Pass out little slips of paper and pens/pencils. Everyone writes a "What if?" question on one side of the paper. Pass the slips around three people to the left, or two to the right, or whatever. Write an answer on the back to the question you received. Then one person reads their question, the next person reads their answer. Continue. This usually generates a lot of laughs and absurdities, but only play two rounds, maybe three, as it loses its steam pretty quickly and it's hard to match that first round where what's happening is unexpected for everyone (well, if they haven't played that before).

YOU'RE SO ICKY A game my girls and I made up, where you choose a line for someone to say and a way to say it that doesn't fit the line. For example, say "You're so icky" in a happy voice. A basic "theater game" kind of exercise, but we have fun with it and other things like that around the dinner table and on long drives.

THE BIG IDEA Worth every Cheapass penny. The fun part is the sales pitches that everyone comes up with for their products.

SPRAY BOTTLE GAME (not sure if it has an actual name) One person tells everyone a topic with a limited number of answers, and then writes down an answer on a piece of paper. (e.g. the topic is Simpsons characters and the answer is "Ned Flanders".) They walk around holding a spray bottle full of water, and whoever guesses the right answer gets sprayed.

Ah, gee... I've played a lot of party games over the years but I can't really remember the names of most of them. Basically, I like the kind of games where something about everyone's personality can be brought out and/or poked fun at. I was just thinking recently that I should get some more party games... I have Apples to Apples and that's okaaay, but I know there are some better ones out there. I picked up Imaginiff at a thrift store the other day and that sounds like it might be a good one.

This is a good list. I might add:
Rock Band. (I do have standards regarding playing equipment, and every single piece of Swamp Castle equipment save the new Lips microphones have been modded in one or two ways. And I have an idea for those.
)
Smarty Party
Stage 2 (This is hardcore trivia. Hard as hell questions, and plays fast.)
Clever Endeavor (Like Tribond, but far better question writing.)
Why did the Chicken?
