This isn't about making recommendations or honorable mentions. Its supposed to be a list of just your five favorites.

Sorry. Though those are my 5 favorites in each of those 3 categories, it's corrected.

Dogmatix, I hope you captured what you wrote somewhere. Solo vs. online vs. face to face wargames recommendations are very helpful.

I'll second that--I could care less if it wasn't honorable mentions--this type of stuff is sometimes too rare on F:AT....I loved it! I hoped you can post it elsewhere.

I certainly don't want to run afoul of the F:AT Forum Covenants again. When I get back home to DC next week, I'll see if I can dig up my original post and throw up a blog entry.

Upfront

Ace of Aces
Car Wars
Globbo

I'm primarily a wargamer, though I got into the hobby through the GM series, so I have some Ameritrash roots. Hard to say--I'll come up with very different lists depending on whether you are asking which wargames I've played the most, which I think are the best designs, which I'm likely to keep playing going forward, etc, etc.

Anyway, I'll go with a combination of most plays and best designs:

1) Up Front
2) Friedrich
3) Washington's War
4) Paths of Glory
5) Combat Commander

Yeah, it's tough picking just 5.

1. Ancient Battles Deluxe
2. ATS
3. Breakout Normandy
4. Storm Over Stalingrad
5. Ogre (for being my first one)
