Bugs: Recent Topics Paging, Uploading Images & Preview (11 Dec 2020)

Recent Topics paging, uploading images and preview bugs require a patch which has not yet been released.

× Welcome to one of the oldest board game communities on the Internet. That may sound like hyperbole but it really is true.

We are really happy to have you here. Unfortunately, being online we can't bond with you over a game so you'd know right away how happy we are to meet you. For now, you'll just have to take our word for it.

This site has always thrived on lively discussion and spirited but civil debate. We hope that newcomers here will find a welcoming atmosphere where game enthusiasts of all levels of experience and commitment will have something to add to the conversation. You never need to prove your “gamer cred” here. Whether you have been playing board games for a few months or a few decades; whether you have a huge collection or a small one; whether you have been a member here for years or just joined today – your opinion is valued here.

We know that it can be intimidating to jump into a new community and want to assure you that this is NOT the kind of forum where people will tell you that you posted something in the wrong place, or that you should have found an existing thread on the topic, or that you shouldn’t have resurrected an old thread.

So if you find a thread or an article discussion that interests you, whether it is old or new, feel free to jump in. Want to discuss a specific game or board gaming related topic just start a new topic. If you don’t know which forum to put it in, just make your best guess (we really don’t care all that much. It’s easy enough for a moderator to move it or merge it, if necessary).

A good place to get started is by introducing yourself in the “New Members Introduce Yourself” thread (below) or by telling us what you have been playing in the “What BOARD GAME(s) have you been playing?" thread ( therewillbe.games/forum/35-mos-eisley-ca...ave-you-been-playing ).

Have fun, and we look forward to hearing from you.

Right about the time quarantine dropped work started blocking all the fun websites, like reddit, bgg, and therewillbe.games. So that sucked. I followed along as best I could, but I'll admit that I was a bad worker bee and usually browsed on work time, so I've missed reading what you guys say. It has cut down on my purchasing.

But after 11 years working in wyoming, we're finally trekking back east. Over to missouri for some underground mining by Rolla,MO. I've got family in kentucky, my wife has family in missouri and indiana, so it's a good move.

Not much gaming, as I've shut that down other than in the family. More D&D with the kids. Switch gaming, xbox game pass.

No virus in the family as far as I know. I was tested a couple times and always negative. My mother in law lives with us and she got her first shot a couple weeks ago. It was frustrating, as she's 69 years old, but the cutoff was 70 for the longest time. I'm "1c" so I could make an appointment, but their first opening was a week after I move.

Missouri is doing a thing where it seems like they aren't distributing enough vaccines to the two big cities of KC and St louis, and extra to the rural. Which is dumb, but means I'll probably be able to get my shot pretty soon, as rolla/salem definitely falls into the rural category.

Wondered where you'd got off to. Glad to see that things have been going smoothly and, honestly, cutting down on the purchasing is almost definitely a positive thing.

The Missouri vaccine distribution is 100% politics. Governor is sending a higher quantity of vaccines to those who voted for him over those who didn't.

Rolla is about an hour from me. My oldest daughter goes to college there. (Go Miners... yes, that is the college mascot).

I lived in Columbia for four years (going to Mizzou), and I kind of miss it. My wife, who did not go there and had never been there, went with me a couple of years ago to revisit the old stomping grounds. I don't think I'd move back given the direction in which state politics have gone there, but I can't say my own bordering state has fared much better.

Rolla is a really nice town. We are seriously considering buying a house there. The real estate market is moving very fast. We've got a rental at the moment, but anyone trying to buy has to jump on it quickly.

I had several Missouri S&T grads at my last place of work, including a handful of interns (my first Intern always referred to it as Missouri Rolla, I've been corrected a handful of times already).

So far, the work is good. I've been underground several times at various locations, but this will be my first time working there. I'm a mine engineer by education, and this is a mine planning job. But to make sure I understand operations and build rapport with the production folk, I'll be spending the next month or two working shift work underground. Starting tomorrow morning.

I'm moving from Wyoming, where Campbell County has historically been the reddest county in the reddest state of the nation. Where they censured Liz Cheney....it's an unfortunate consequence of my degree that I don't have many options other than very conservative areas. If I had it all to do over, I might choose something else, but for now....gotta pay the bills.

Mine towns used to be union towns. Used to be Democratic strongholds. My dad’s family is from West Virginia.
