Nerd Trap, a Star Trek Podcast - Remembering Leonard Nimoy (1931-2015)

Nice job, folks! Brought a tear to my eye.

One of my favorite Spock scenes: in All Our Yesterdays, when he and McCoy are trapped in the ice age of planet Sarpeidon with the incomparable (and incomparably sad) Zarabeth. McCoy keeps nudging and nudging Spock until the Vulcan snaps, seizes him in a death-grip and hisses, "I don't like that. I don't believe I ever did." And stunned McCoy realizes that Spock (and Zarabeth) might both be better off with McCoy dead. What can top that? Nothing.

Trying to think of great non-Spock Nimoy roles is tough. Could it be because no other character has ever been as inspiring or important? Not sure, but In Search Of, Mission: Impossible, Body Snatchers, Combat!, Man from UNCLE, etc., etc., left few indelible footprints in the sands of time.

Curious to hear if anyone read his work, either the memoirs or anything else?

That _IS_ a great moment. A pretty great episode all around, proof that, contrary to popular belief, S3 isn't all bad.

I would like to read some of his books, particularly I Am Not Spock and I Am Spock, but they we fetching a pretty penny even before he passed.

And a correction, the book I refer to in the show is Secret Selves, not Inner Selves or whatever it is I said.

He had a small role as Dr. William Bell in Fringe (something like appearances in a dozen episodes altogether over a few seasons), but he was still great, and his interactions with Walter (John Noble) were memorable.

Well, we started watching The Fringe a while back but gave up on it after seven episodes. Thanks to Colombob we watched three more episodes tonight and had a surprisingly good time. Looking forward to seeing Mr. Nimoy!

Although this show was uneven, it had some great, gripping moments and felt like real science fiction at times. I love the episodes that felt like a kick in the gut.

Fringe is a great show. Just finished binge watching all seasons.

The animation episodes (on an acid trip) are superb and they feature Nimoy as well.

He was excellent on both episodes of The Simpsons he appeared on, as well as the Star Trek episode of Futurama. His line readings are great and his sense of humor really comes through.
