OGRE PBEM was created by Michael Barnes
OK, I'm like the worst PBEMer in history but I want to try it again. I want to play OGRE. A lot. Does anybody want to give it a go? I'm not sure if Cyberboard or Vassal is the way to go with it, please advise if you know. I just want to start out doing some basic scenarios, the good ol' MKIII one on the original map, that kind of thing. Maybe move up to the GEV stuff later on. Let me know if you're interested.

Cool idea. One quick note of caution: make sure everyone is on the same map. I'm pretty sure there was some re-numbering of the hexes between the first two editions of Ogre.

Of course I'm in.

There's a cyberboard gamebox, but I don't know if there's a working VASSAL module...lemme check...

I've got both. Cyberboard looks like the better option, I just can't find the damn "red squares" to track Ogre stats.

Just found the Vassal option...and got it to work; very slick with all the maps and the unit record sheets built in. Dude did a nice job.

I'll load up the cyberboard version tonight [can't get to the engine from the office]

Edit: I lied, loaded the cyberboard...VASSAL is *way* mo' secksi as far as tracking and the like goes but it works...

Vassal doesn't have the tracking sheets though, at least not from what I saw. Of course, Cyberboard doesn't have the charts built in. Ugh. Either one man, if you want to set it up and send me a file we'll get it going.

Who else? I'm willing to run 2-3 games at a time of this...I think it's perfect for PBEM. No inter-turn stuff, no responses, no contested rolls or anything like that.

In vassal, drag an OGRE onto the map and right click on the counter; you'll get all kinds of tracking options.

Post some links and I'll check out if it's Mac friendly.

Hey we're back!

Ok, vassal engine is here:

www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php

Go to the downloads and pull the appropriate Mac installer. It runs smoother if you install rather than web-launch the java app.

I think I linked the Vassal module above, but if I didn't I'll go dig up the link and fix it.

Not that I know of, but I'll scan up and send you a set. Because I'm a pirate like that.

Oh, and because everyone on the planet should play this game.

And also because it keeps me out of at least 3 other threads on this site where my irrational, easily aggravated "Inner Kiwi" could jump out and start using words like "fuckwit" and "vegemite" indiscriminately.

And barnes, you need to respond to that PM I sent you.

Responded.

I have a scanned set of rules I can share for OGRE but I still need the GEV set.

As long as vegemite and sandwich aren't on the same page then you should be safe from a banning.

Chap's a good guy after all!

Hey Tom, PM me your email address and I'll send you a scan of the rules. I'd love to teach you a few valuable lessons at stopping a MKIII. Lesson 1- meat sucks.
