"Ok, vassal engine is here:
www.vassalengine.org/community/index.php
Go to the downloads and pull the appropriate Mac installer. It runs smoother if you install rather than web-launch the java app."
Thanks. It seems to be an all-in-one for all systems (from the 'manual installer' link contained in "Or download the manual installer, (Windows, Mac or Linux)."). First hurdle: it asks me to allocate some memory for the program. How the fuck am I supposed to know what it needs? Great start, very unMaclike. Their Getting Started > Installation wiki makes no mention of this. It also describes the file as a zip, whereas the download is a jar. I'll try the 'download' link from "Or download the manual installer, (Windows, Mac or Linux)." next.
EDIT- That is a zip, waiting for it to arrive...

... Which unzips to reveal two files and a folder containing five jar files. Of the two files VASSAL.bat isn't for the Mac and the VASSEL.sh opens in TextEdit and says "Execute this file to launch VASSAL on MacOS or Linux". Be nice if the dicks actually told you how to execute it. Looks like I'll have to piss around wasting my time trying to search their forums...
Let us know what you find, I'm a Mac user as well.

Try the Cyberboard Gamebox if you can't get it going...not sure if it's Mac compatible at all, though.

For some reason they can't be bothered to shepherd people to the latest beta (which you really want to be using instead of the old 3.0.x releases). They'll announce a new beta on the home page, but not with a hyperlink. Annoying.

That'll give you a link to the 3.1 beta 8 (last beta release before 3.2) disk image.

MUCH better - thanks!
Now to find that Ogre module . . . uh oh RoboRally . . . Monsterpocalyse . . . hmm getting distracted here.
If they have The Creature That Ate Sheboygan, Awful Green Things, and Fortress America then I'll be really happy.

That's definitely NOT Mac friendly.

"So uhmm, are you going to the VASSAL website then --> Modules (pick your faves) --> Files --> right click --> save as ... ???"
Nope, just sticking the page links into a folder. Then I'll work my way through them one by one, reading the info, downloading the files, etc. Might take a while...
