Let's Talk Skull (and Roses)

So, I've determined that I need to get this game for my Casual Gamers Club as we frequently play at a bar.

I know I could make this out of real coasters, but the art appeals to me. Well, the art from the earlier editions.

Anyone know what the difference, if any, is between the editions? I know the early ones are out of print, but they look to be in stock at boardgamebliss in Canada (anyone ever order from them?).

They also seem to have some game called 'Gringo' that looks to essentially be the same game. What's up with that?

I've seen and played both in person. I couldn't tell any difference personally although they were both gorgeous. However I do prefer the new version. It has a unique look that feels almost Incan to me. Great casual game, as good a Love Letter.

Boardgamebliss is great. Fast and relatively cheap shipping to the U.S.

I haven't played Cockroach Poker, but I can recommend Skull. We just played it and it was great with five and six. It's weird how easy it is yet people have a hard time wrapping their heads around it sometimes. Until the bluffing part/laying traps part 'clicks'. Totally worth owning.

Years ago we tried it with the same group and it flopped - but we were all tired at the time and may have missed the point :)

Then, I owned the biker version. soon after I sold it. not long ago I bought the Skull version. I vastly prefer the illustration/artwork in this one. Love it.

differences: Skull plays six out of the box, each player has a different flower (it is not just roses), the artwork is a lot cooler for my money, each skull is different. the earlier biker aesthetic in this case just didn't do it for me.

I love me some Skull. I think it's better with fewer than more players. I like that it's harder with three players. I tend to do better when I'm stoned, it's like I can read people's minds, it's freaky. Everyone should own a copy.

Wow, they actually have the Red version...I just don't know if it's worth the $$ to get it shipped to the US.

How does Skull compare with Letter of Marque?
