Well, what I meant by a coincidence was that that is not the way you are meant to get the solution to the back gate. Here's the actual solution to the back gate of the JTG:jeb wrote: The first one is the one I am stuck on and you are a liar! ....OK, I will keep poking at it. I can't believe it's a coincidence though, no effing way.

Thanks for the nudge--I was aware of that on the earlier puzzles, but the shapes here seem all wrong. I will flex my brain on this some more. The other puzzle I mentioned, I see something nearby that should help, I just can't quite get it the way I like.
I was offline all day (a Sabbath thing) but I was able to contemplate some puzzles I captured on paper and solve them. That's a nice feeling.
My brother-in-law paused his game looking at a blank puzzle, replaced his four-year-old video card, turned the game back on and saw the answer staring him in in the face. Those video cards matter! Thanks for your guidance on this earlier, he appreciated it.

I had some graphics issues with some of the puzzles in the woods behind the sawmill, so I would focus on the panel, bumped it up to HIGH, made sure I didn't move so my computer wouldn't start smoking, solved it, then turned the settings back down. I only needed to do that maybe twice though.

I finally unlocked a chamber in the dye swamps that has been a challenge for me. That was heartening. I am still struggling with that puzzle I'd mentioned earlier. I might brute force it, but that's a bummer since there are a LOT of options there.
The spoiler below discusses my current progress, which is a ways into the game.

I didn't have kids deliberately to avoid any sort of responsibility so I could spend the entire weekend playing video games.

I just finished the Dye Swamps. Where is the puzzle located that you are stuck on? I don't recognize it. (Edit - Nevermind, I found it. Edit 2 - Solved it.)
Has anyone else wondered why there is a single gray cloud in the sky?

Warning: Spoiler!I am around 370, +65. I fired another laser (stupid birds) and the mountain is beckoning me. I have unlocked two of the three "bolts" on that cap up there. But those dumb statues are in in the way. I see more lasers to fire though, so I am heading back down for now. I have still the Treehouse and Dye Swamp at least. There are some +XX puzzles that I need to move some platforms for and that's a bit of a drag.
I have all 11 areas now cleared. I only really see a few miscellaneous panels around that I'm not quite sure how to solve, or what they lead to. Speaking of, has anyone solved the panel in the quarry building up in the control room that doesn't appear to link to anything?
As for scoring,

It's only USUALLY gray.Disgustipater wrote: Has anyone else wondered why there is a single gray cloud in the sky?
The spoiler below talks about aspects of +XX puzzles.Disgustipater wrote: As for scoring,
Warning: Spoiler!I am at 412, +70, 11 lasers. I'm down in the mountain, stuck on something that I needed a break from. I'll come back to it tomorrow. As for the +XX, there's a few that I know of, but can't figure out how to get them lined up properly. Kind of frustrating. Also, I'm guessing the black pillars show you how many you have left?
My progress right now is discussed in this spoiler--I am well into the game.

BTW, the single gray cloud was almost surely white for a single shining moment in your game. You can work it out.
The spoiler below contains some ruminations on late game stuff. Not ending stuff, before that. I guess. Not sure.
We know the monoliths are "tracking" the environmental +XX puzzles. Is that it? Is it like the tracker in FEZ, so you knew where to go, but nothing else? Is there a pattern to their positions on the island?
What about the pieces of paper panels, with the triangles? Maybe this is in the mountain and you guys are chuckling at this sweet summer child. Also wondering if there is a pattern to their placement.
There are six movies to see (I have seen two). I think I know where at least two more of the maps are. There are +XX puzzles in the movie room though--but maybe you need a movie to complete them?
What's up with the one craggy tree by the quarry? I got nothing there. Just cragginess? Same thing with the teeny waterfall between the mountain and the Dye Swamp. Just for prettiness?
@Disgustipater: I think the mystery panel in the quarry control room activates the nearby elevator? It was definitely not working, then I did a whole lot of stuff, and then it was--that may have turned it on, I wasn't really paying attention.

Are you saying I missed my chance or I just need to be in the right position?

I'm a ways down and haven't found (or noticed, at least) anything about them.

The one up on the top of the rocks looking all imposing? I've looked all over that tree to no avail. The game image on Steam is a picture of that tree, so who knows.

No, I had the elevator working prior to touching the extra panel. Your formerly impossible puzzle doesn't seem to do anything either.

You can get it for sure, just saying at one point in your game it was probably white and you didn't notice. But you can make it be white again at will.Disgustipater wrote:

On PS4, the game image is the laser-gate in the Shady Trees. Maybe it's just a prettiness thing. The gate at least did something. That tree is just sitting out there. There are some paths in the mangroves that don't seem to have a purpose either. And why with the burned tree house?Disgustipater wrote:

I think I remember hearing a clunk or something for that one. Maybe I solved it "wrong?" Those "big" puzzles have been the ones in front of movie solution maps. I should poke around and see if there's a box around that can be opened.Disgustipater wrote:

Viewed from the right angle it makes a cool vignette, similar to the other random scenes scattered around the island.

Question:
i.imgur.com/7XjaEPz.jpg
I'd just like to know if it is A or B.
A. It is a straightforward puzzle that requires me to solve it with both lines making it to an endpoint, following the standard rules for black/white squares and sunbursts.
B. There is some 'twist' to it that makes it not simply a basic line puzzle as described above.
I don't want to keep banging my head against this trying to solve it the standard way if there's something I'm not seeing that makes it different.
