I'll probably look into getting the rest of the +XX puzzles, but I wont be putting in 3 hours a day anymore.
Also, there are two areas I'm not sure how to access. Has anyone gotten in?
The first one is the underground pathway between the windmill and the desert lift. Both ends have the doors locked from the other side.
The second is late/end game (Edit - I looked up a hint and found it):
(Obviously a spoiler of its location, if that sort of thing matters to you)

I got it. I had to go back to the Dye Swamps and take a look at the rules, which I realized what to to do, then it was just a matter of getting the line right.
Now onto The Challenge.

The Sun Temple one I brute forced, noted above--but once I did that, I realized what I had missed. Just look at it as many ways as you can.Gary Sax wrote: Couple of puzzles in the town are driving me crazy. And I STILL can't crack the first puzzle in the sun temple. I think I've finished all the rest of the areas w/laser finished.
I finished everything, rolled credits. There's more stuff though. Going back in.

Warning: Spoiler! So once you finished the game, did it reset your progress back to zero and send you to the start again? Then you do the credits, and as far as I can tell, you are still reset. Am I missing something? Because I copied my save over before I got into the Great Glass Elevator. Then once I walked in and flew around, my only save option, other than the new, fresh save, was being locked in the elevator before activating it. So I rolled back to my copied save to continue playing on. Am I doing this incorrectly? Do you save your overall progress even after seeing the island flyby and the credits?

Man, I think I need to take a break. I'm starting to get impatient with the last few miscellaneous puzzles and thinking more and more of just looking up some hints online, which I don't want to do. The same thing happened with Fez, and I gave in. I don't want to do that this time, so I think I need to go play another game for a while and come back to this with more of the sense of leisure that I had throughout most of it.

I knew there was a way in and out of the mountain from the bottom. One, I can see the damn doors near the Dye Swamp. Two, there are panel power conduits going to to the statues in there and those need to light up somehow. Three, there are +XX puzzle outlines on the monolith near the Jetty that can only be from the floors of the mountain--like four of them, so it must be possible to solve in alternate ways, then get BELOW them without using them to see them to activate. (I think you can only solve them and get to the stairs in one way). I just looked all over trying to follow the conduits and saw what must be seen.
So's you know, I capitulated on FEZ's monolith puzzle--so far it doesn't look like there is a decent answer to that. I did see someone try to use the figure-8 style drawing to arrange the book so it made sense, but it seems really contrived.
I still think that Lonely Tree is up to something.

I'm at 438 +82, and there are several +XX puzzles that I found that I'm not sure how to solve. Especially one in the starting area. I guess I'll figure them out at some point.

I'm pretty sure all the mountain-based +XX puzzles go to the monolith on the mountain, by the mouth of the stream. The few I've done have gone there, in any case.

No one knows how to get that one, so I'm fine that one. Just other late game ones I got impatient with and looked up solutions. It bummed me out after the fact. For The Witness, I did figure out how to get into the caves of the mountain (I haven't actually solved the entrance puzzle though, yet), but I got a small hint from online and it still bothers me, even though it wasn't a blatant answer. I had questions about stuff that would have lead me in the right direction, I just didn't take that thread far enough, probably due to impatience. I just need to go back and finish Wolfenstein: The New Order, and maybe play some Galak-Z, then come back and poke at this here and there.

Don't sweat it, man. Like I should feel guilty about asking in here or asking my wife and brother-in-law to help out? Pfft. We were sitting around the TV with our eyes closed listening the other day and humming and shit. This game is great even with help, which can't be said for every puzzle game.Disgustipater wrote:

I've been taking breaks this whole time. I'm rocking a MINECRAFT game at the moment, keeping HEARTHSTONE going, just downloaded _PRISM (an iOS puzzle game). It's not going anywhere, and it benefits from an open mind.
Discussing a late game puzzle type below.
