Not sure what happened at Amazon but I am pretty sure that Matthew McConaughey reached through space and time to buy up my NES. Dick.

I guess I will instead just go casually walk into any store or any online retail site and buy my daughter a Hatchimal. Certainly there are plenty out there. Right?

I find it odd that this is so popular. Nothing against those games, they're mostly great games but can't you get them on pretty much any Nintendo system these days? I know I have a couple on my Wii U.

Now if they did that with the Sega Master System I'd be all over it. Wonder Boy, After Burner, Space Harrier, Shinobi... man I loved that system.

How is this NES thing any different than those sega genesis 80 game systems that I see all over...often different versions packaged with different games?

This is legit, which is nice, it's high quality hardware (Nintendo is no shirk on the small stuff. You can drop a DS in the toilet and it'll probably be OK), and the emulation is amazing, as noted by others. It's compact, and easy to setup and use. HDMI, done. If you don't want it, hooray, you don't get to feel the senses of envy and frustration that I do right now.

For folks that don't really "follow" video games and don't really know about emulators, virtual console, etc. this is functionally the first time they perceive these games as being "available" again. Most people know nothing about jumping through all of these hoops to get SMB to run...on your desktop PC. Illegally. This is an easy, simple way to play these games and based on VC prices, it's also much more economical. I do not care one whit about putting in the time, effort and money to build a Raspberry Pi emulator and a of that. Or play these games on a PC. Neither does most of the world.

For Nintendo fans, it's hitting right in the nostalgia nuggets with the look, the packaging, the controllers...it's a really fun product with broad appeal...that should have been released 10 years ago.

It just boggles my mind that Nintendo doesn't understand how bankable its properties are...it's like if Disney decided to not license Princesses.

I have a RetroUSB AVS and an Everdrive N8 and I still wanted one of these. It's adorable. Not spending the Ebay prices for that, though. I could get a SD2SNES for that and have money left over!

I don't have a Wii U, so spending $60 to be able to play 30 NES games including Zelda, Super Mario 1-3, Castelvania, Double Dragon and Mega Man 2 rather than spend $300 for the Wii U system alone ... it's a no brainer.

Man, I would sink to no lows if they had a Gameboy version of this.
